What about the Lectin Pathway, though?
@mydearestpotato4 жыл бұрын
Just in case anyone wanted a summary of the Lectin Pathway - A protease called MBL-associated serine protease (MASP) binds to the MBL (Mannose Binding Lectin). The complex of MBL and MASP cleaves C4 into C4a and C4b and C2 into C2a and C2b (like in the classical pathway). C3 convertase (C4b.C2b) is generated & cleaves C3 etc.

What is the inhibitory protein which keeps the C3b inactive in case of healthy cells??
@LuciferMorningstar-dp7by7 жыл бұрын
Your lecture was great but I have a question. If C3 can spontaneously convert into C3a and C3b then why do we need the classical pathway in the first place since C4bC2a does the same thing?
