What's funny is the song originally had "Massachusetts" in the chorus instead of West Virginia because one of the songwriters was from there and came up with the song while driving through Maryland. The song was originally going to be sold to Johnny Cash but John Denver asked them not to sell it to him because he really wanted it.

Actually, I can't find it on that album. I think perhaps it's only available on an early 7" devoted to John Denver - the B-side is "Leaving on a Jet Plane." It's a great song.

That's opinion. My personal opinion, it's great. Only time covers bother me is if the tune is completely changed and can only be recognized by the lyrics. The tune isn't changed here, it's just faster, and Spike Slawson can sing...my opinion. AND I love the original along with other songs by Denver, which this band as covered some of them. This band is for fun, ease up. I doubt it but you might actually like the studio version of these covers. This is live and raw.
