I think one day the 1198 will be held in the same regard as the 916. Timeless beauty and the probably the last one with the classic Ducati superbike recipe: L-Twin, dry clutch and full trellis frame.

I just bought a 2011 1198sp, it is my first Ducati and I am in the process of complete disassembly for cleaning, lubrication, and service. It is such an incredible machine to have the opportunity to have in my garage, I wake up in the morning and check to make sure it wasn’t a dream.

The greatest of the xx98 series - I had the `09 1098 R - ex - Team Motologic superbike, ridden by Jaime Stouffer in the Australian SBK series, it was the first model to get traction control, which was a much-needed addition (it still pulled monstrous - monos with little or no warning) I ended-up selling it because at 60 years of age I`m not as fit as I was and just could n`t hang onto it, still rates as one of my all-time favorite bikes.
