Although I agree that they were far better days for the park than the rundown experience we get now, the "magic" was always for profit like it is in any theme park anywhere in the world. They wanted to build a park to make profit from then, they want to tick over a park as cheaply as possible to make profit now. "The Smiler incident" also has nothing to do with it. They were declining in quality years before that happened. It's not a charity organisation people. Never has been, never will be

When I went on it for the only time, the train would go through the station for the second lap and the guys would shout “Chooo Chooo”. Made my day!

Joecake Gamedev It used to be the Katanga Canyon theme until some time in the 2000s, since it stopped playing two different themes have been used then in 2016 they brought it back on the Runaway Mine Train and played it in Katanga Canyon with the other two soundtracks alternating :)

It plays in the Alton Towers Hotel lifts and around Katanga Canyon in general. Although this is Alton Towers specific composition, this is actually derived from another piece of music. I did hear the name of it somewhere online but I'll have to do some digging to find out again as I've long forgotten. If you listen carefully, you heaf the same melody playing in the background of one of the episodes of The Imagineering Story (ironically) on Disney Plus. It can be heard playing in the background of the bit where they're discussing the building and design of an Indiana Jones attraction. Check it out, when I heard it I rewound it a number of times and it was clearly another version of this exact same tune.

since they took this away from the Katanga Canyon area, AT has lost its magic in my opinion. that or... It's just cause I'm not a kid anymore in the mid 1990s. there was a real sense of magic at age 13 or 14 whenever I went and hearing this as you walk over the bridges of the rapids.
