What a tough experience, I am so sorry someone so young had to deal with a terrible crisis such as this. From Arizona in the US, I wish the girl and her mother the very best, she is a lovely young person, about my daughters age and that makes it a little personal. If there is a fund raising project to assist with getting her care and an artificial leg, I would want to participate.

I'm so upset that happens to poor Vicky at least the smiler reopens it's my favor ride but its not nice for Vicky and the other victims they deserve lots of help and prayers

feel so sorry for Victoria and leah along with the other guests it's shocking what happened the engineers that disengaged the safty over ride and the staff member/s that set the ride off should be ashamed it was a bad accident that shouldn't of happened thort to them all

Get real you muppet. Should BMW get shut down for all the car crashes that have happened in their vehicles over the years? Didn't think so. This was one accident in over 30 years of Alton Towers operating. I sympathise with the victims, really I do, but to suggest closing the park over it is being more than a drama queen. If Alton Towers closed because of this, I'd wonder why Disneyland remained open when countless people have died there over the years.

+Gettinbuzz Dats 2 VERY different things! Their is staff tht are hired by alton towers to control the rollercoaster whereas BMWs are crashed by ppl behind the wheel. They sell the car and it is not their responsibility whereas Alton Towers control and ensure their rollercoasters are safe!

And Alton Towers have done all they can to help the victims and ensure their future. What happened that day happened, but Alton accepted full responsibility and are still working towards gaining the public's trust back. Close a park over one incident? Get real folks. Why not go get your pitchforks and flaming torches now since you're such a wise mob? Notice though how you make a point over BMW but nothing towards Disneyland where it still thrives with custom when people have died there.

for one crash that wasn't even the fault of the ride itself? the operator was rightfully fired.

it isnt the smiler's fault. it was one stupid operator who overrode the safety thing

@@rajnirvan3336 No, The Smiler was in good maintenance and considering it was only 2 years old it was in even better condition than other rides. But yes, the first reply was correct, the safety system was overridden, nothing wrong with the ride system, only poor judgement by an employee.

wait... I've been watching a few of her interviews now and I'm not saying its all a lie. I truely belive it but something doesn't make sense Alton Towers stated that the crash happened at around 2-2:30 pm. Vicky says that they waited 4 hours for rescue but her mom was finally called at 4pm??..

Yeah all emergency services arrived quickly, it just took 4 hours to get them down off the ride, they knew the names of the people on the ride before then.
