I went to Alton Towers the other day with my friend, for the first time in 7 years, and we both really wanted to go on Wicker Man. We did it, and the whole experience was awesome. The first thing that impressed me was the music, it's got bit of a medieval vibe to it.

Want to know what’s worse than a soundtrack? Being in the weird flashing lights room on the smoker when it breaks down. Although we were in there for 30 minutes, the absolute pain to your eyes you got every minute or so for 5-10 seconds was beyond frustrating

The atmosphere, pre-ride show and music really adds that extra dimension to the ride. I wish more rides would have this level of detail, its something that Disney and Universal do well in the states but its often lacking in the uk

"Theming on par with Disney and Universal" well, obviously not, but more importantly who cares? It should just be its own thing and be entertaining. I love the ride, because it's great fun. So many Merlin coasters are dull and formulaic but use gimmicks and hype to make out their somehow important. Wicker Man is just big, atmospheric and fun, it's what any big coaster at a theme park should be like really! A return to what matters, but it's not even as themed as Vampire at Chessington was 30 years ago so let's not get carried away...

This is my new favourite ride at Alton Towers, the pre show is amazing, the soundtrack and announcements are amazing and the ride itself is much more thrilling when you’re on it. This ride definitely suits Alton Towers and having it for Early Ride Time this year is a good thing. Nemesis is second favourite, Galactica is third favourite and The Smiler fourth favourite.

You'd be a fool to not have a fast track at Alton Towers. Unless of course you like waiting 1-2 hours for a few rides each day. Me and my friend queued for the spinball whizzer in the regular queue while owning fast track tickets which took 45 minutes. Then we went through with fast track passes and rode it 3 more times in less than half an hour. You pay extra to feel smug while people are waiting in the cold and you run past the same people 3 times before they even get close to the front 😂😂😂
