Glad to hear it since my King Mt’s just arrived this morning:-)..I got a pair of Salomon sense pro 4’s just before and tried them first thing this morning,, great forefoot road bounce like the Adidas SL20’s & good in mud, not great, not a full mud test since being in frost. Aiming to find a shoe great in mud & 2-3 miles of road out & back home. Got the Salomon sense 8’s coming soon plus Saucony Peregrine 10’s, The Peregrine 10 ST’s were horrid slippery rubber. If they all finally fail in road to mud transition then I have Hoka Jawz to order as last resort. unless you have the golden answer. Fingers 🤞. Keep up the great vids..
@movemorenowjames3 жыл бұрын
Thanks, the HOKA Jawz were great, even on the road but just too narrow for me. The king mt2 seemed to be on par with the HOKA jawz, but they are pretty firm ...so would not want to do too much road stuff. *that said, I switched a more cushioned insole into the, and they feel pretty comfortable now....

I got the superior 4.5 and ended up returning them since the rubbery toe cap was interfering with my toe in my normal size 13. They were also kind of dead feeling, a bit too comfortable. I’m looking at these, I can get them for 60 bucks. You think a size 14 would be good enough to keep my toe from being annoyed by the front of the shoe? Hoping the foot strap will help keep my midfoot locked down such that the length is not an issue.
@paddywiggle3 жыл бұрын
For reference, I have the escalante racers in a 12.5 and since there is no interior liner in the toe cap, the size is completely fine for me, although the toe is within a centimeter from the front of the shoe. Same size with the Vanish XC, but even less space. I tried 13 in the superior and my toenail interacted with the very edge of the reinforcement in the superior. Was quite annoying.
@movemorenowjames3 жыл бұрын
Hi, that’s a weird one regarding the superior... but agree it’s very comfortable! The King definitely is more responsive and by the sounds of it that’s what you want . 60 bucks is a deal, the foot strap does really help lock things down... the escalantes have lots of stretch these don’t so maybe a 14 might be ok...

I guess it depends on how technical the terrain is and also, how much up and down ?

Great review yet again. I keep looking at them but I think the drop from Hoka's and my Olympus will be to much for me. Just got the Inov8 X-Talon ultra for muddy runs, feel a bit stiff and may take a bit of breaking in, but the grip is mental.
@movemorenowjames3 жыл бұрын
Thanks, yeah the x-talon is a great shoe , amazing grip ... just too narrow for me! Thanks for the good feedback 👍

We need to get you sponsored by Altra lol. The outsole and lug pattern look amazing. Could be a good cross country shoe as well.

Have you had the chance to try out Topo Athletic? I’m curious to see what you think of the MTN Racers.
@movemorenowjames3 жыл бұрын
I had the magnalfy? And the ultraventure when transitioning to zero drop, never tried the MTN racers - will check them out again. They are good??
@brettfliesser3 жыл бұрын
@@movemorenowjames I have them and really like them. I feel they are grippier (then the terraventure), more comfortable, and have an overall better ride. Did a 7 miler out the box and a 10 mile run the next time wearing them and no issues. Maybe not as wide as altra but that’s not a bad thing. Perfect amount of town box.

Those might be my next trail shoes, how do you find extra cushioning effects your running? Do you feel the forces on different parts of your body? Subscribed by the way, nice to see another Content creator that also uses zero drop
@movemorenowjames3 жыл бұрын
Thanks, appreciate it. There’s not much extra cushion on the king mt and with the Olympus I find your foot fits into the cushion rather than on top of it .... It still feel very natural and upright - even with more stack . 👍

My hips and knees are thankful for the zero drop!

Subbed you back👍... nice channel...
@TirnanHealy3 жыл бұрын
@@movemorenowjames Cheers man! What changes in your legs do you find the extra cushioning effects vs minimal? I think Zach said the more cushioning causes the forces to move up the leg or something
@movemorenowjames3 жыл бұрын
@@TirnanHealy it all depends on the person and I guess the way they strike the ground, but yes some people will more cushion is worse for you as the forces go up the legs more but others disagree... personally , with a cadence around 180 and a mid foot strike landing under the hips is generally ok for both high and low cushion shoes.

I’ve been running in Altra a while but they really still fatigue me and ankle soreness (torin 4.5plush) when doing hills in them, any idea why ?
@movemorenowjames3 жыл бұрын
The Torin is pretty neutral and very flexible.. and the zero drop does take time - took me about 6 months or so to transition. I went from 8 to 5 to 3/4 mm then 0mm drop. How long have you been wearing them? What where you in before? This could explain ankle issues as they do open up your Achilles more ... (but less stress on knees and hips etc)
@movemorenowjames3 жыл бұрын
Actually just remembered , you have have done a lot on the Torins ...
@FatUglySadMan3 жыл бұрын
@@movemorenowjames thanks for reply ! It’s only hills with zero drop which gives me really achy ankles, if I run in my triumph 17 no probs. Torins totally fine on flat route, maybe it’s extra pressure on Achilles in the zero drop. Been running in zero drop on and off since 2018 , not 100% as I like other shoes to much 🤣🤣
@movemorenowjames3 жыл бұрын
@@FatUglySadMan then would say it’s the zero drop that causing ankle issues, to be honest it can years - annoyingly- but you are wise to keep other shoes in rotation. Just putting them on now for ez first run of 21!
