Trail running wise, I was about to get 490 solid miles out of my first pair of Olympus 5’s. No sole delamination issues but I did have some upper and inner heel material tearing. Neither hindered performance. I will say the midsole wears in pretty well and almost forms a rocker vs being more flat overtime. I have 70 miles on my second pair already (ran back to back 50k’s out of the box) and so far those look great as well. The second pair came with a less rigid pair of laces. I love the extra volume these offer because my feet swell up a bit during ultras, so that was an amazing benefit.

My experience is that they got better over time

That’s good to know! I was so surprised at the stiffness…almost every shoe / boot needs break in so I hope they improve. Thanks for the note on this :)

Those are not rock climbing shoes. They are just trail runners.

Well, not wrong ha! I’m definitely using them outside their intended use, you are correct. Primarily I would be using these on the usual backpacking trail / hiking trail, and I’d like to see what they can take. But I need to make sure I don’t dismiss them because they aren’t rock climbing shoes that’s for sure… Thanks for checking out the vid!
