i have an i20 sportz and an my uncle has an altroz xz. (both are similar in price) I bought i20 because my main drive is on well paved roads - i20 shines in well paved roads with smoothness and stiff suspension. Altroz is a good car too, last time when i went home i drove the car and found that the car can handle bumps better and has a bit more usable features like cruise control, adjustable arm rest, keyless entry, wrapped steering wheel, auto ac. The things which i didnt like was the engine in that car (Laggy and viby when compared to i20). Also the gearbox though okay is not as smooth and the clutch felt a bit hard which makes the whole gear change process a bit rough as compared to i20. The A pillar is so thick that it obstructs visibility- dont know what to say because this is one of the things (the stronger the better) that will save your life but in corners this may also create blindspots which may lead to an accident. One thing to note is : engine is the heart of the car and you cant replace it in India, so make sure you take a test drive before purchasing. Rest all features can be added later on. But thats my view, i am not saying any one is bad and should not be purchased. Both are good cars. For a first time buyer the above points make no difference, he/she cant go wrong with either one (choose what suits you).

I personally prefer i20 sports with turbo engine. Love it's black sporty interiors and powerful engine feels like a sports car. Took its test drive yesterday. Currently replacing my Swift with sonet htx imt turbo but definitely buying i20 sports imt next year by replacing my other car

The altroz owner seems to be very knowledgeable about cars. I think he has spoken well about the i20. It is quiet inside as the engine refinement is one of the best in the market and the clutch release is splendid. Apart from that, it is meant for style and is expensive to maintain. But, the altroz comes with safety, tremendous features inside, and ride handling is the best at the moment.

@@theabovementioned5923hyundai service is 10000kms or one year Tata service is 15000kms or one year, for people who drive more Tata is cheaper to service due to Longer interval and service depends on the service center I have never faced any problems with service. My Altroz turbo puts out 22kmpl on highway and 14-16 in city, for a turbo car that perfect. I had driven 20,000 km in 6.5 months and the only thing that I have changed is engine oil and oil filter.

India me 95% se zyada log, engine refinement ko nazarandaaz karke gaadi khareedte hain. Nahi to aap log hi bataiye, pichle 4 mahine se altroz i20 se zyada kyu bik rahi hai? Mere paas altroz petrol hai aur i20 active(purana model) hai. i20 ka engine smooth hai altroz se. Main mainly jammu to srinagar route pe chalta hu. Chadai ke time altroz i20 se better feel hoti hai, altroz 4th ya 5th gear me chadaai me chad jaati hai, jahan i20 me 2nd ya 3rd geat pe rakhna padta hai. 100 ki speed ke baad i20 ka power zyada lagta hai altroz ke muqabale. Altroz me software update ke baad uska 2nd gear wala problem khatam ho gaya hai. Altroz ko stall karna mushkil hai, i20 kabhi kabhi higher gear me kam speed pe bandh ho jaati hai. Altroz ka steering i20 se kaafi better hai. Altroz me pickup 90 tak i20 se better hai but 90 ke baaf i20 bht zyada better lagti hai. Handling me to altroz ke aas paas bhi nahi hai i20. Aur interiors sunjective hote hain. last me safety ki baat kijaye aap log jaante hi hain

Premium comfort and smooth engine - i20 is a winner. I prefer the elite i20 more than the current from looks point of view. Altroz has a higher build than i20. But tata engines are not smooth and lacks premium feel

Tata’s problem is with service, they cannot even provide proper test drives. I asked for altroz diesel, they asked to drive petrol and couldn’t arrange diesel test drive after taking more than a week. Hyundai service is simply way better. I purchased i20, pleasurable service experience. Even first service, they picked up and dropped the vehicle, asked for all problems, fixed and tuned the car well, and as per free service, I didnot pay a penny. Hassle free experience does matter.

i20 engine is very refined due to 4 cylinder. But there is gear shifting problem, in particular in rever gear.

Yes that's a problem, if you not use vehicle for long period. Make clutch pressure more while making use of reverse gear.

problem nahi hain woh. Hum log kya karte hain..chalakar laate hain carr and ek dum se reverse karte hain...to car ne jaankar thoda stiff kar diya jisse koi chalti car mein na lagade. Plus, khadi gaadi mein hamesha first gear pehle lagao..fir reverse lagao...! yeh mujhe service wale ne bataya!

Things that is better in i20 compared to altroz is engine smoothness and you can't feel the engine on inside the car Gear switch is smoother compared to altroz yes that's it . Things that are better in altroz compared to i20 are Steering is not old fashioned like i20 Milage compared to i20 is far better Maintainable cost compared to i20 is lesser Boot space you get for altroz is huge compared to i20 There is no centre tunnel for the passengers at that back like i20 Ground clearance is like i20 but better Altroz is Key less Interior premium feel in altroz and i20 is old fashioned And many more.

Baat sahi hai. Both cars are good in way and bad in other. None of the cars are perfect. We can find issues in both. What is important is what a person likes the most. As I have bought Altroz XZ. It’s not like I20 maine chalaake dekhi nai, I have driven both. Lekin mujhko jo feel Altroz mein aayi wo toh i20 mein nahi aayi. Gears hard hai aisa bolte hai, mujhe kuch nai fark padta- I own a RE Bullet uske gears bhi daalo toh lagta hai patthar phut rahe hai. Ab car mein Altroz is not worst but not as good as i20. But features a ambience and cost effective is what made it as more important.

mai apni altroz se 20 plus ka jarur nikal rha hu .. tank to tank se. bahut pyari gadi bas sound damping aachi kar de .badhiya engine ka kuch ho na sakta bas al05 update mai dekhte hai ab . aur maine 200 km almost itni kabad road pe chalaya hai . ki puri gadi hilte hue chali gadhe mai hi road thi . fir bhi chali . ache se .engine ka kuch karna chaeiye .kabhi kabhi band ho rhi . power kam pad rhi thi to. sabhi dash cam jarur lagvaye .kabhi bhi jarurt pad sakti hai.

Altroz has one major flaw regarding lock and unlock...any kid can open the car from inside...at that point 5 star rating won't do anything 🙄🙄..check this on yt if u don't believe me

It’s also a safety feature bro, this lock unlock system helps the passengers to get out of the car easily if any accident happens because most of the times the door gets locked by the impact during the accident and they can’t get out of the car. And there is child lock system in the back we can use, and it can be opened from outside during accident, the purpose is allowing passengers to get out during the accident and not stuck inside the car. No doubt Hyundai is next to Tata in safety because my 2010 model I20 saved me and my entire family’s life in an accident. So now I can’t compromise with the safety and build quality and Tata is the safest car in India right now.
