The NES sprite popping up for Alucard when remembering Trevor is so funny to me. It always made me chuckle as a teen and still to this day puts a smile on my face. It was so random at the time for a game to have some cheeky thing like this lol

Eric Lecarde is the great-grandson of Maria and Alucard. Eric apparently took after his great-grandfather's Spaniard roots rather than great grandma Maria's French heritage.

Isn't that just a fan theory? Aside from Lecarde/Alucard sounding similar and the clan being entrusted with Alucard's Spear, neither Bloodlines nor Portrait of Ruin ever mentioned anything relating them.

​@@Darmani2MBit's pretty much confirmed as a weak fan theory, because halberdiers are actually notorious in the Spanish army hence why Eric is a spearman, nothing else. Alucards lines in SOTN confirm in a liminal sense that the danger of having descendants could result in a dangerous blood line, so while the idea of him and Maria are better platonic it's super unrealistic he has a random son. However, there's an argument that Eric changed his surname because they want to be separate of the Tepes name - Dracula was actually once Gabriel Belmont for instance, Van Helsing and John Morris were relatives. So the name thing makes sense. If you watched the Castlevania anime, Annettes story was slightly changed - her heritage of being a slave/orphan witch could actually be that of Greta and Alucards great granddaughter.
