Après une étape de bordures qui s'est conclue par un sprint jeudi, le peloton de l'AlUla Tour faisait face à un final beaucoup plus compliqué puisqu'une montée avec des passages à 22% a été placée dans le final de la quatrième étape ce vendredi. Face à de tels pourcentages ce sont les grimpeurs/puncheurs qui ont brillé et notamment le leader de la course, Tom Pidcock (Q36.5). Le Britannique s'est envolé dans la montée finale et s'est imposé en solitaire.

Ineos changed. Thomas and Rowe have also said how it's changed. Back in the day, Team Sky was a cycling team such that riders, directors, scientists knew each other and could talk horizontally. With Ineos, it has become corporate with lines of command,, policy, decision-making and authority. The cycling is merely one brand within a holding company. From that fundamental change in nature, other changes cascaded. Like Spurs in football, the football on the field is just one part of the holding company that aims to make money from the stadium and all activities associated with the stadium. Result is investment in players to chase results on the field can exceed the income demanded by the wider company. In Agricultural Economics, we soon learned that a perfectly clean farmyard costs more to keep clean than letting it look a bit shabby. Pidcock was pulled from Lombardy despite being runner up to Pog the week before because his bonus for coming second would be greater than the wider value accruing to Ineos.
