Oh my! Thank you so much. Good information. I'm replacing my leaky CPVC system with PEX. I couldn't get the heater fitting connection apart, but I was able to remove it in one piece. I have very soft, low mineral content city water here in Boulder, Colorado, USA. From my 10 year old gas heater, pulled out the anode all covered in brown slime. Since I have the thing apart, I thought I should replace it. Upon investigating the replacement part, found that it is likely aluminum. I had no idea. No living organism has any use for aluminum. Thank goodness I use a good filter, but I will be replacing it with a magnesium rod. Thanks again!

I agree. I'm looking for a gas water heater with a magnesium anode rod. As the water disintegrates the anode rod I'd rather have mg rather than aluminum in my water. Thank you for raise awareness to this hidden killer in warmer heating tanks.

I just replaced a water heater and it had a magnesium anode and was producing hydrogen gas. I replaced it with an aluminum one and the gas has stopped. I live in the City of Los Angeles so we have good water quality. Very strange.

Sounds good; I like your many reasons. But are any of these backed up with facts? Using AL in difficult areas, so it's not used up as fast, made sense.

I would say direct visual observation of what happens to be facts. Including being unable to remove Al anode due to their excessive swelling over time factual too. Was there anything not based on facts in this video you heard?

Agree 100%. Pain in the but to flush out water heaters with aluminum anode rods. The jelly like substance sticks to the bottom and cause units to overheat and shut down since it slows down heat transfer a bunch. I always replace with magnesium and stick pex through anode port to add air from my shop vac while flushing to stir up all that stuff and get it out. It takes a couple of hours to do this P.I.A!

Not much core facts and they breeze over the last portion for Well water homes. In conclusion bad video is bad.
