Just got my 3M in the mail yesterday, used a buffer and got one side of my 16' boat nearly done. This stuff surprised me on how good it works! I was able to get a mirror reflection out of the dull aluminum. Thanks for the vid!

Yea it really surprised me too. I've found a high speed buffer works the best. Glad your boat looks good!

Outdoorsman Channel The buffer I have doesn't turn as many RPMs as it needs to, but I've found If I remove the 3M and reapply it the shine will come out. Thanks again!

What do u mean by remove the polish and re apply it
@sdc200810 жыл бұрын
Outdoorsman Channel I'll put 3M on the transom, hit it with the buffer, remove the residue, and reapply the 3M again. I repeated this a couple of times and it really cleaned up the old water-line. There was just too much oxidation on the transom compared to other areas of my boat.

My understanding is that aluminium doesn't rust because is builds up a layer of oxidation on the surface that then protects the underlying aluminium. This is essentially stripping back the protection layer. While it looks good its not necessary.

Oh yes it's completely not necessary. However if you want the shiny look it's the only way to go. the oxidation will just rebuild up.

Just have to put a protective layer on after to keep it looking good.. Like sharkhide

Wow at that rate you might have it done by time boating season . you can't use a buffing wheel ?
@OutdoorsmanChannel2 жыл бұрын
You absolutely can and should use a buffing wheel! I just showed how to use it by hand

Can't wait to hunt in the mud with that.

If I use this on my boat, just wondering if the paint will goes off too??????????

I have tried the polish on the paint and it is very aggressive. I would not suggest it if your paint is thin. If the boat is newer it might work.

Would it be necessary to use wax on a boat that is used in sweet water?
@OutdoorsmanChannel8 жыл бұрын
wax is not necessary but it will make the shine hold loner

How long will the shine last between applications?
@OutdoorsmanChannel10 жыл бұрын
Not too long honestly. I polished the boat in the beginning of spring and it looks like it's already oxidized now in fall. There polished sections still look better but not nearly as good as when first polished.

Outdoorsman Channel thanks. Doesn't seem to be anything that really works great. Read mixed reviews about sharkhide, that it dulls the finish. Also its an arm and a leg.

Don't get me wrong the polish works fantastic but it doesn't hold shine long just because it's aluminum. Aluminum is always oxidizing but we use our boat quite a bit. Wax might also help to keep the shine.
