Aluminum die casting is a good technique for producing precision metal components at medium and high volume with short-turnaround times with high accuracy. Parts will have high precision, very good surface finish, can either have smooth or textured surfaces, and be repeatably produced. It can take weeks to make the mold which is not cheap, but once the mold is made, parts can be produced inexpensively and fast many many thousand pieces using the same die casting mold. Aging molds may be repaired or replaced depending on their condition. So metal die casting is a technique good to be considered if you need the same parts repeatedly, over and over again in significant quantities as you deplete your stocks or even for one time production if quantities are large enough to justify die casting mould fees. All the machine needs is a pneumatic smc air cylinder with either read or mecanical switches which tell the machine cpu to only inject and close die when front guard is shut imagine if the ejector pin breaks or the die splits during injection

Looks pretty safe at this plant. Quality is top notch as well. They just check those castings on the floor before shipping.

I work in hercules ca, as a die caster and we have safety procedures! This is not okay he should be wearing some glasses n a jumpsuit like here at my job!

Lol, unless you want to get covered with aluminum, you should leave that safetydoor open. Never trust the machine, small mechanical defects have huge impact.

John, in 1975 in the days before saftey doors when I was first starting my die casting career my supervisor was training a new man on the machine next to me. The mold he was running had never spit before, never not once. I know because I ran this mold every day for six months.Well he was standing in front of the pl and teaching the new guy how to use a hand ladle. Bang!! The mold slit and he was hit in the back of his upper left arm. He screamed bloody murder and was taken to the emergency room. The next week when he returned to work he brought a jar with aluminum in it. He said that the ER doctor took out appx. 1/4 pound for metal from inside his arm. Bad things happen when you are not paying attention and making assumptions about safety.

Absolutely. I ran a vertical die cast machine for 5 years starting in 1984. They lock up hydraulically. A vacuum is drawn and aluminum is drawn into the die through a "sucker tube" from the dip well of the furnace. I have had biscuits explode when the die opened. If the door was not there it would kill you. Also have had them spit.

Yes, decided by stockholders, accountants, purchasing managers, and vice presidents in USA. They don't lose their jobs, just make more money. This is our system of incentives, and the results. Even 30 yrs ago the cost of dies and machinery meant the production rate had to be very high to pay for it. We can see (even) China has a plan for lowering labor costs. That part looked like a front axle for a lawn mower. ????
