Nice to have some scrap aluminium around the shop. Good little tool to have when you need it. Nice to see the CNC mini mill in action. Cheers Dave.

I have the same setup but using bigger motors, Have not has a problem with missing steps I don't think. If I can work out how to send you some photos I will. Do you still have the spring on the Z. Cheers Dave

I can't say I've ever seen someone wipe sandpaper clean with a terrycloth towel before. Doesn't this pull the towel fibers apart? Well clearly not since it seemed to work. Cool project!

MyRobertadams I see. I thought it may be something like that as I made a 90deg surface grinding block with lots of tapped holes for the same reason

I think I would have started the tap on the bench drill, or mill and then hand tapped to make sure all were square, but other than that very interesting

If your mill has a dc motor? it should be possible to wire in a reversing switch to the wires between the motor and the speed controller. As in here. www.vegoilguy.co.uk/reverse_polarity_switching.php Honestly though I tend to just start the tapping with a 1 or 2 threads by turning the chuck by hand on a pillar drill or Milling machine and then finish it off by hand using a tap wrench once you know the thread is square. Takes time but gives consistent results.
