Alvin Lee- gtr, voc; George Harrison- slide gtr; Steve Gould- bass; Tim Hinkley- hammond organ; Alan Young- drums; Steve Grant- keys
From the album ‘Keep On Rockin’ (originally ‘NINETEENNINETYFOUR’, 1993)
Alvin says… one of my favourite tracks from my album ‘1994’. It has George Harrison on slide guitar and is one of the best solos he ever played. It’s a masterpiece, so sensitive. Hearing George made me play more sensitive too!
I’m very proud of this one. It was recently voted one of the best blues songs ever recorded. I’m sure B.B”King wouldn’t agree with that! It’s got a classical style piano played by Steve Grant, and George Harrison plays a slide guitar solo that is one of my all time favourites. He created such a tender, melodic solo and I had been playing kind of angry solos, y’know? After hearing George I had to change my whole approach and started to play much more melodically. As a result, I played a great solo too. George may not have been the most clever and nimble of guitarists, but he didn’t just wiggle his fingers and play a succession of notes, he actually I wrote a tune while doing a solo. He was so eloquent on guitar that he inspired me to play something eloquent too.

First time I've heard this song and Alvin Lee and it hit me hard...I will add this song and Alvin Lee to my collection of Joe B., Robin T., Eric Clapton, Stevie R, B B King just to mention a few. I'm 70 and I've felt this Bluest Blue...more than once, for many reasons. Vietnam, Lost loves gone bad, younger brothers and parents gone to soon. Still...I'm going to listen to it again, wipe my tears away and enjoy the purity of the lyrics, the music and cleanse my heart. Live, Love, Laugh life goes on. Never, never quit or give up. Eisblume.......

@@xmandlt This is a true statement. Alvin's solo is competent run-of-the mill flash but rock is saturated with that kind of solo, it could just about be anyone. George's is a sweet and unique "voice" that Beck would appreciate, having a guitar "voice" of his own. By "voice" I mean you can tell who's playing straight away.

Underrated is an over used expression, specially refering to 'The Blues'. The Blues are underrated, it is a given, so lets express the 'greatness of Blues' All USA American music was founded on the Blues, Jazz comes from the Blues. R&B any one? Rock'n'Roll, Psykedelic rock IS the blues electrified to the max. Such as jimi and cream and led zeppelin etc...All USA music comes from the blues, as late as the 60's, with all due respect Black Culture Music BLUES and its derivatives. In reality, The Blues Are Not Underrated it is listened AROUND the world, Peace.

srducko: Elegant. Mournful. Elegiac. Yeah, George's solo is the only counterpoint that could have possibly spoken to Alvin's moment. George nailed it. Eric and George? Try Alvin and George: they CRUSHED it on this one.

Couldn't wait to see you Waiting by the door There was no one there to meet me And your clothes were on the floor Sorry if I hurt you And I made you cry Couldn't stand to see you With another guy It's the bluest blues And it cuts me like a knife It's the bluest blues Since you walked out of my life Couldn't really tell you How you hurt my pride Something broke within me Down inside Never knew I loved you Till you went away Now the loneliness surrounds me Every day It's the bluest blues Since you walked out of the door It's the bluest blues 'Cause I won't see you no more Sorry if I failed you And somehow I'm to blame The bluest blues I'm feeling is a crying shame Just can't live without you Face another day 'Cause the bluest blues I'm feeling and it's here to stay It's the bluest blues And it cuts me to the bone It's the bluest blues When you can't find your way home
