Alvis 12/50 - sorting the camshaft

Rebuilt engine not running right - looking into the problem which seems to be related to the camshaft rubbing the number one follower

technically mine should have an updraft but when putting back on the road after 40 plus yrs of no use I had a pair of bronze SUs seemed silly not to use!

I have TE 12/50 with twin SU's fitted to a fabricated manifold. Can you tell me is your exhaust manifold original?

originally yes I was using a stock exhaust cast manifold with the updraft section cut off but this broke about 9 years in and now have a stainless fabricated manifold which was the same price as a replacement cast one.
