I’m not so sure about that, I’m female, I was born in 82’ grew up on classic rock and mtv videos. I love hair bands but I also love hard rock. As a teenager I listened to a mix of tool, Aerosmith, stabbing westward, nirvana, Led Zeppelin, Metallica, sublime, poison, Motley Crue, an eclectic mix of rock genres I guess. And as an adult it’s still the same, I like many of the newer hard rock bands and many 2000’s rock bands. I wasn’t ever much for pop music, most of what I do like was either from the 80’s or early to mid 90’s. I hate pop from the 2000’s to now. No boy bands for me 😂 and I can’t stand country. I’m just a true rock n roll girl. And I think there are many of us out there. Although I will agree that some girls like the 80’s hair bands because the guys were “prettier” than the guys in Metallica, pantera, anthrax, megadeath, ect. Prettier than the pink guys too, except maybe for billy idol 😂😂😂

The only other group which has a members back in that manner I can think of is Def Leppard, when drummer Rick Allen lost an arm in an accident. And instead of saying "hes gone," they stuck by him while he retrained with doctors and technicians and waited for him to get well so he could play again. In both cases, the way they stick together, that spells 'family.' A very rare thing to see in music today. ❤️

When Poison came on after the warm up band, they told the crowd that on the way to the show, that their truck carrying all their equipment and stage props had burned to the ground and C. C. stated that he and the rest of the band lost everything for the tour and the other bands lent them the instruments to do the show. He said he had never played this guitar in his life but that the show would go on. They did a fantastic show still even without all the green/pink stage our even their own gear.

Poison were a fun band and fun music and videos. They were unfairly givin a bad rap I think for the other crappy hair bands of the '80s and early '90s that flooded the radio and MTV. . Only because Poison was one of the big bands of that genre back then. They were good, them, Guns N Roses, and Motley Crue. All blues rock influenced, talented. Grunge ( related to punk) , punk, alternative rock, and hip hop had a huge boom in the early '90s, kind of hurt Poison and the likes (hair/glam rock/metal).
@jonathangeraldrobinson7202 жыл бұрын
What killed the hair bands was the record companies, just like they killed grunge years later. Once Motley Crue and especially Bon Jovi started to get some recognition, the record companies saturated the market. Too much of the same thing.
@joesmith87252 жыл бұрын
@@jonathangeraldrobinson720 True. Very true. BTW, grunge kind of stayed around, but morphed into post-grunge into the late '90s, '00s. Their sound and vibe changed, too due to record companies. But, yes, you are right about everything you had stated, especially with the hair bands.

What I love about Poison is that they embraced POP in the 1980s with their Hair Metal, but they were not produced like boy bands are today. Brett, Bobby, and Ricky all used to played together in their home state of PA before they moved to LA. CC is from Brooklyn and didn't join the band until they were trying to make a name for themselves in LA. Even today a good CC Deville guitar solo still puts a smile on my face. He is considered a master of his craft and he has one of the largest electric guitar collections in the world. 90% of which he helped design and they almost all scream 1980s.

Thankfully, most older metalheads from that era have come to their senses and realised that their ridiculous snobbery only prevented them from properly appreciating different types of music. Every band after VH dropped tried to emulate them w/their version. [IMO] VH night not have been the best band ever, but they came pretty close to it, and that's why they remain in my all-time Top 3 favorite bands. No band is perfect, and every band has a weakness, again, IMO, VH,'s weakness was Michael Anthony. He's a really good bassist, but nothing stands out about himself OR his playing. Now his backing vocals were second to none. But that was it. Meanwhile, DLR was the ultimate frontman, he wasn't the best singer, but his style, and charisma, his showmanship was unparalleled. While nobody can say for sure who actually created the hammer in pull off technique, whether it was Randy Rhodes or Eddie himself,😊 Eddie was still [one of] THE most influential guitarists of all time, and there no denying that. Alex's drum work is in a whole new level. Can you imagine if VH, instead of Michael Anthony on bass, imagine they had Billy Sheehan? Oh that would've been nuts!

That was how 80's teens were introduced to Poison. This was their first video on MTV and it was instantly a hit. Other great songs from their first album include Talk Dirty to Me and I Won't forget You (a great ballad).

This has always been one of my favorite songs. When I was playing drums and singing I did this song all the time. Always a crowd favorite.

Poison,probably top 10,hair band.Grew up with all the greatest bands ever,will never be another time ,when music was,at its best.One band you havent reacted to METALLICA,when you do get around to it,try,Enter Sandman,1991 in Moscow,you will be surprised,not all by the band itself,but by a few other things,you two want to see,what a real concert consist of,this is the one to watch.THANKS guys for doing what you are doing,nice to see some youngins,enjoying what i grew up with,me and the wife,love you guys,thanks again.

I personally 'discovered' these guys when they opened for Ratt in Seattle, either '85 or '86 (I'd have to check my Ticketmaster stubs, hehe)...because they blew Ratt away like nobody's business with their performance, energy, & hungry sound (heavier live), with half the stage size that was given to the headliner. This became an instant anthem for me and my friends in '86. 🤘 It captured the soul of our generation back then, that decade.

It’s so great when the younger generation listens and appreciates the awesome music I had growing up. Your love of music and the joy on your faces is what keeps me coming back to your channel for more. Keep up the great work!

These bands were excellent performers and high energy I loved being a teen through the 80s we chased bands and saw concerts all over the country! But the big thing is under all that glam these people were excellent musicians they were very skilled at what they did! Tremendously respected❤

The lead singer is Bret Michael. He grew up in a working class family from southwestern Pennsylvania. they understand hard work pays off and how to have fun. He always comes back to the area for the Holidays and Steelers game. If you have not seen them in person you doing know what you are missing. Glad I had the pleasure to see them live back in the day😊

Went to a concert with Poison, Def Leppard and Super Tramp in Phoenix a few years back. AMAZING all 3 bands. Def Leppard played the AC/DC recording “For Those About To Rock” to warm the crowd up before they hit the stage!! WOW!
