Wild theory here. We know that when Willow gets upset she looses control of her plant magic (glowing green eyes is a giveaway). What if the reason that Willow was put in the Abomination class instead of plant magic class was because her parents know that this is a problem with their "bloodline" so to speak and that in the past their ancestors would loose control and cause chaos and destruction. They therefor put her in another class so that she would not develop her plant powers and therefor reduce the risk of her hurting herself or others if she gets upset. I think it would be a nice twist if Willows powers had the potential to be so powerful it could be self destructive. Willow would be put in the situation where she wants to show off her powers for recognition and status, but it would hurt her in the future, or she could study something else and be safer, but be know as a half witch or a failure.
@kasia72044 жыл бұрын
I just never understood that part where 'Amity stopped hanging out with Willow because she earned her powers before her." Amity has already started warming up to Luz, despite Luz's lack of magical prowess (you know, since shes a human) and writing on paper to create light isn't all that amazing. If she warms up to Luz despite Luz's lack of powers, then why did she abandon Willow? Theres probably something behind her and Willow's separation as kids, something that Amity couldn't control. I don't really know, but that would be cool.
@ItsRebeccaRose4 жыл бұрын
My guess is it was her parents. If Amity and Willow played as kids and Amity got her powers, the first thing she would probably want to do would be show them off by playing with Willow. It’s been hinted at that the Blights have a high socioeconomic standing based on their manor and that the Blight siblings are all pretty gifted in their magical abilities. Once Amity’s powers developed and Willow’s didn’t, her parents probably cut her off because Amity then had to uphold the family name. This is just a guess though. :P

I’ve noticed several parallels between Amity and Pacifica Northwest of Gravity Falls - high place in society, similarly high personal standards, a cruel exterior belying a kind heart, etc. Given this, I wondered if the Blight parents were involved with the separation as early as “Hooty’s Moving Hassle”. I agree completely, and I genuinely hope to see this part of the backstory explored.

Willow actually really reminds me of Izuku from my Hero Academia: both are generally quiet, reserved and against violence. Both have some serious self-esteem issues stemming from bullying, and they both were abandoned by their best friend because they didn't immediately develop cool powers. I think that it’s very possible that Amity’s side of the story is different. We only hear from Willow’s end, which is that her friend left her when she got magic but willow didn’t. But by the way it sounds, they were quite young when their magic developed, since Amity says in covention “that’s a baby spell” (or something along those lines) I think that it’s very possible that Amity’s parents pressured her to sever ties with Willow, thinking she’d be a bad influence and that Amity should only be around similarly powerful witches. Amity seems very focused on her grades and school, and I think that her parents are the ones kind of pressuring her to focus so much. During their first scene, I think it’s possible that this is the way Amity’s parents encourage her. She thinks she’s doing Willow a favor, getting her to focus on her school work more so that maybe they could be friends again.
@m00ns4lt4 жыл бұрын

@laurellee14354 жыл бұрын
I think there's a chance of willow having a dark arc. She has ethics and a desire to be nice, but some of her reactions suggest that if her ethics aren't firm then something traumatic could lead her to make bad choices because she can be jealous and petty but also she is determined and acts on what she wants. And of course power can corrupt. If there is a magic object which improves her magic but also feeds off of her and takes over her to an extent, that could push it further (though if she is less culpable for her actions because of something taking over her that would be a one episode adventure rather than an arc (because its been done before and the lesson is more not cheating or power corrupting than character growth beyond that) but could set up an arc). It depends how long the seasons are and how much is greenlit obviously, but it looks like after star vs, Disney are giving Dana the right tools to create something polished from start to finish like with gravity falls rather than having to make up episode by episode deciding which ideas they can fit in where (which seemed to happen with star vs and Steven universe, both woman led funnily though different networks.) But if this is going to be a longer show with more seasons where its not just going to be one or two big season finale spikes in drama, where there can be ongoing arcs and plots which aren't always fighting the big bad, but have a lot of time for character development, I can really see that route. Plus because she's called Willow and it makes me think of Buffy it's hard for me to not think "what if" when watching.

First I think that Willow could be tapping into something like 'The Green' in the DC universe. This could be because she seems so caring about all living things especially plants like the flower in 'teenage abomination'. Second I see Luz being the way they become friend's again. Amity has drive and skill, while Willow has natural talent. Luz to me seems to be a cross between them both good and bad. We know she has the drive and determination to learn magic, in 'Hooty's Moving Hastle' Eda say's it would take powerful magic to animate a whole house, look's at Luz so possibly Luz has some natural talent we have yet to see. This could bring them as well as Gus, Emira and Edric to help train Luz at school as they all seem to be talented student's in their own right allowing Luz to gain the knowledge she need's to succeed at Hexside. As well as allowing Amity and Willow to bond again while helping Luz learn magic.

While I love Willow's incredible cuteness, I want her to lose control over her anger and almost kill everyone in the Island in a future episode. She holds back too many times, she needs to let go of that composture eventually if she wishes to either be respected or feared, since being loved alone is clearly not keeping her from still being bullied. After all, greatness comes with sacrifice. Maybe her sacrifice is her innocent and consideration in order to allow her more selfish and self-centered side come out and allow her to have more self-love.

@@kontters she wouldn't be able to kill everyone, she would be stoped before she had the chance. And besides, I've got this idea in my head of Amity, Luz and Willow learning dark magic in season 2, and the price for it being that they must be proud of their worst traits and everything it allowed them to accomplish. Willow's worst trait is lack of courage to face her own problems, that allowed her not only to become a shy yet kind and sweet girl that everyone trusts, but also acquire a great deal of power when she loses control over her emotions. If she does go throught that path, she's going to break at some point, and that's when her powers, fueled both by her anger and the dark magic, will fully manifest. So no. It's not too much. It's simply the price she has to pay for the power she wished to acquire (in my fanfic at least).

The ONE thing that bothers me about the show though is how Willow is about the only non-skinny character in the show, and she's The Friend. I do have a bad feeling that willow will soon get sick and tired of being bullied by amity's friends that once her power's become more powerful, she will try to get revenge against the bullies by trying to seriously hurt them and showing no mercy at them, while luz would try to talk to her that brutally hurting the bullies will not make things better. If something like that does happen, then that would make me feel relatable to willow. As a kid, i was bullied all the time and it always gave me the need to see something bad happening to the bullies but my mom gave me a talk that wanting revenge isn't right, that it wouldn't make me be better than them. After that mom managed to talk to the principal and those bullies were expelled, which felt way much better for me than wanting a revenge X3 But ye, if willow snaps and plans to brutally beat up her bullies, that would be scary but also pretty sad.

Instead of heading straight to class in EP3, Amity stopped and went out of her way to gloat and call Willow “Half a Witch”, that seems like bullying to me. EP6 shows her making an insta post targeting Willow saying No Dorks Allowed. You may take the scene as Amity getting her friends to leave Willow alone, but from my perspective Amity is just too mature to stoop to that childish teasing level, instead she just ridiculed Willow magic capabilities by saying she has no talent.

Maybe she was pressured by her 'friends' to add those to her post?
@averymon22923 жыл бұрын
@@eagletgriff well you still have to hold her accountable. I think it was her herself doing it. Amity is not perfect, she was cruel and offensive as great as she is now
@midgetkitten89563 жыл бұрын
The thing about the argument that she was posting on Instagram is the fact that when they pan out to Amity and her friends during the moonlight conjuring all of her friends have scroll phones, and when boscha gasps Amity doesn't Pull out her scroll, but runs over to Boscha's, like maybe she doesn't even care about pentagram or scroll phones so Boscha posts with her or for her

Willow is everything you said she is and I found it interesting that you used the word "Prickly" in the video as it described the thorns that grow whenever she loses control or starts to. It is obvious to me that the story of the Owl House will be revealing more questions, answers, and everyone will be bonding. The thing to pay the MOST attention to will be how long our girl of light spends in that area. Why? Because she only has 3 months before she has to go home, right? Can you imagine what it'll be like if she fixes everyone's friendships, cures a owl curse, learns powerful magic, makes BFF's, the past about her favorite book being revealed as more than fiction, and more than likely saves the land from some evil plot. She will most likely have to leave to return to her mother but have learned many important lessons herself and return to her mother a more stable, calmer girl. So in a sense it is a mix of Harry Potter, Infinity Train, and Gravity Falls. All very good sources to draw from. :)

Theory: (this is a mix of an idea I had+some stuff from the video+some stuff from the comments, so if anybody already wrote this, I'm sorry, i had no idea) So in an episode, Willow gets jealous of Amity and Luz's relationship, and loses control of her powers. I think the fact that Luz compared Willow to Eda is foreshadowing, so when Eda tries to stop the plant monster thingy Willow has turned into, she will fail. At the end Amity will breakdown and say stuff about her friendship with Willow, and that she's sorry and she had no intention towards "stealing" Luz. Willow will turn back because friendship is the key to everything or whatever and the Willow-Amity relationship will start healing. (Sorry for any spelling mistakes and sorry again if anyone already wrote this)

I don't think it'll happen, but I PERSONALLY would love it if Willow became a 'Big Bad' in the series. She was already far behind other students, but now that she's in the plant magic classes she's showing a remarkable amount of improvement and sheer power. So you have a girl who was bullied relentlessly and now as the power and potential to rise to the top and put down her previous bullies. When you throw in her anger, the willingness to cheat and break rules, and the fact that Luz was only able to get into the school because of her; I can see a Willow Breakdown happen. Especially if Luz and her get into a fight.

Luz said it in Hooty hasle: Willow is the strongest witch after Eda. I found it super weird Willow being so strong, but God, that -and her backstory with Amity- made her my favorite character. She is the strongest witch of all Hexside, I can assure it (no proves, nor doubts) Como dicen en mi finca, está chetadísima y me encanta, aaaaaaªªªª

I liked this video a lot! But I feel like there were some things that she got wrong. First, I feel like she’s trying to paint Willow in a worse light than Amity when talking about her cheating. Yes, Amity has all the reason to be upset when Willow gets the star after one good grade(really the teacher’s fault). I admire Amity for her work ethic and values. However, Willow didn’t have a choice in which track she was out in at school. While I’m not saying that because you’re bad at a certain subject you should just cheat you’re way through it, Willow is immensely powerful in plant magic. If I were her, I’d be really upset that I’m not putting my plant skills to work, even if the abomination track has better opportunities. I would be looking for ways to get myself ahead, even if it counts as cheating, because I want to graduate and out my real skills to work. Second, when she mentions the scene with Willow and Amity where Amity is smiling, the argument that because Amity is simply smiling at Willow means she still likes Willow is pretty dumb. That smile was supposed to enforce that fact that Amity was being very sarcastic and condescending toward Willow, belittling her and her skills. Finally, I can see how Amity’s “no talent” comment was used to drive the other kids away from Willow. But if she really cared about Willow’s feelings being hurt at that moment, she could’ve just said “Leave her alone” and be done with it, even if her friends question her for sticking up for Willow

Hey! Glad you liked the video! As with any analysis or discussion, certain things are always up for interpretation. Thank you for sharing your thoughts! My intent wasn’t to show Willow is a bad light, rather show that she is a complicated character much like Amity. The two aren’t black and white in terms of their character and there is a grey area when it comes to their decision making, i.e. Willow cheating in school and wanting to take Hooty to show off to Amity. And with Amity, her being a bully to Willow. With Willow cheating, I totally understand why she did it. But, was it wrong of her to do? Yeah. Should Amity stop being mean to Willow and could she have just said “leave her alone”? Yes. But this is what makes characters great, they’re flawed and they make bad decisions and mistakes. The important thing is that they learn and grow from it. With Amity smiling at Willow in their initial scene, it was more speculation than absolute fact. It was just an interesting thing that I noticed compared to other interactions. Did Amity know she was taking jabs at Willow? Yes. But, could it be argued that there is some intent on her part to motivate Willow? Sure. We’ve only gotten two episodes with these two, so there is plenty of room for interpretation. Just wanted to elaborate and clarify my points a bit more. But, thank you again for watching and commenting on the video! I hope you have a fantastic day!

@@ItsRebeccaRose to be honest, I think this is a false equivalency. Cheating to get a bad grade in a class so that everyone else in the class won't get more homework, and to avoid being remorselessly bullied (what Willow did), is far more understandable than bullying somebody basically just 'cuz (what Amity did). Describing them both as "complicated characters" and leaving it at that is reductive. I know that now we have a lot more information about Amity and her family background that makes this behaviour more understandable, but I think it's unfair to act as though Willow's cheating--which was basically a win-win for her, Luz, AND everyone else in the class--is equivalent to Amity's bullying. It's not like Amity got a worse grade just because Willow got a good one. Sure, she might have lost top student for a week, but if we're calling anyone petty in these early episodes, it's her. Also, speaking of pettiness -- she's the one who posted a caption aimed at Willow saying "no dorks allowed"? I honestly don't see Willow standing up for herself as anything but admirable in that context. Sure, she got them into a scrape, but she got them out again. And honestly Luz and Eda get into chaotic situations like that every episode anyway. :') Anyway -- sorry for this long comment on a 2-yr old video, hope it makes sense!

I believe amity told her friends to stop bullying her not to be nice, but because she was still disappointed in her cheating that she just got no enjoyment from bullying her.
