I've got one (XKR convertible 2003 model) and I ADORE it. It's the most beautiful motor in the world! Apparently, the rear seats mean that the insurance costs are lower, as the car is classed as a 4-seater and not a 2-seater sports car.

You mention the horseshoe-shaped design of the dash, but in fact the shape is intended to replicate the shape of the wings of the WWII Supermarine Spitfire, which was made in the same factory at Castle Bromwich, which later became the assembly line for Jaguar cars. A nice nod to the heritage for the factory and the workers who built the Spitfire.

We bought a 2000 XKR coupe after a deal on an E-Type fell through. In hindsight we ended up with a much more practical car for a fraction of the price of an E-Type. The XKR is just as beautiful as the E-Type but does not have the same charisma. We deliberately sought a X100 version with the 3 dials. Our car was sold with the R-Performance pack of Brembo brakes & 20" Detroit wheels. We have 3 other Jags; a MkV, a Mk2 & a X300 4.0 Sport. The Mk2 is a "keeper" as it is a rally modified 3.8 MOD in my husband's favourite Cotswold Blue. The XKR is our next favourite car & is brought out when the weather is too hot for the Mk2.

Thanks for the comment and for sharing details of your Jaguar collection, which sounds amazing. The X100 XK has some many styling cues from the E-Type and, as you say, it's a much more practical and usable car. Thanks for watching my video, I hope you enjoyed it.

I recently bought a 2006 XKR-S convertible, with the old body styling like in this video. Black outside, two-tone red trim on white inside (a blessing when driving with the top down in Texas). I think it puts out about 420hp. A fantastic car to drive. Holds a smooth, effortless 110mph on a straight road, almost like flying a plane. Steering is on the heavy side and takes some physical effort, but I love driving it on road trips when I want to relax.

By the way. I noticed that your neighbor's car was missing its rain sensor. It would normally be in a black housing at the top center of the windshield. On that car, the little round window for the sensor is visible. These cars have automatic wipers. Also, that Adamesh exhaust seems to be installed with the pipes a couple inches farther back than they should be. They should not protrude beyond the bumper. I have the same set.

The reason it doesn't feel as fast as you're s type is a couple of reasons, the bigger wheels have messed up the final drive ratio making the gearing longer and the s-type being a 4.2 having more hp and a 6 speed closer ratio gearbox with the correct size wheels 😉

Great car to "slide" through the landscape. If you want a sportscar - look somewhere else. That said...original body parts are getting harder to get. Better not to break anything in that department. You should buy it

I was certainly tempted and pleased to say that it has now sold and is with its new owner, so the temptation is no longer parked in my street! I appreciate you taking the time to watch.

My wife’s MG RV8 DOES sound better than my XKR
@cornishcarcollectors10 ай бұрын
Thanks for the comment. I adore the RV8, stunning car. An XKR and RV8 is a nice pair of cars; I take it you use the MG on nice days? Thanks for watching, I hope you enjoyed the video.

@@cornishcarcollectors It’s the usual really. We try not to take either out in bad weather, but really they need to be driven. Obviously, the MG benefits from a galvanised body, and the Jaguar benefits from having been ‘gone through’ but still…

the exhausts look out of place
@cornishcarcollectors7 ай бұрын
Thanks for the comment. I do agree, the exhausts would not be my choice, but the car is still a stunner... particularly in red, which is a colour I do not really associate with Jaguar but it works on this XKR. Thanks for watching.

You shouldn't be leaning on the car.

Almost 5 minutes to get to the point? C'mon, stop making videos with so much fluff to lengthen the video.

Blimey. You could talk a glass eye to sleep....so boring...13 mins in before you drive it...yawnnn
@cornishcarcollectors10 ай бұрын
Thanks for the comment. I am pleased you stuck with my video until the drive, despite the "so boring" content. I add chapters to my videos for anyone who wishes to skip to the drive (or any section they are particularly interested it), enabling others to see the history of the model or trim / spec of the car. I appreciate you taking the time to watch and hope you slept well.
