Regarding the M-rating, it’s highly likely that will be the case. Literally the day that first trailer came out, the Sony website allowed you to view it, but you had to enter your age first. Generally there's a good deal of care given to the film and the game is just an afterthought to get some quick money. Logan being brothers with Creed is one of the few changes that actually make sense. In a world where there are so many mutants, and all of them having such vastly different mutations... what are the odds that two guys who grew up in the same time period, and location, just happened to have the same mutant healing factor, but not related? The reason destroying or damaging wolverine's brain works at wiping's his memories could be 2 reasons: 1 is because his healing factor isn't perfect and healing back memories is nigh impossible. Only the tissue required to form the electrical neural connection to form new memories can regenerate, not the old tissue that had old memories. Reason 2 is that his healing factor does factor in his memories and trauma and "heals" him from it by straight up giving him amnesia to not have to endure the same pain as before when the trauma happened.
@FraserSouris Жыл бұрын
Technically, from a biological perspective, the way the brain makes memories is a bit complex. To quickly summarise, memories are formed from the specific patterns in which neurons activate. The combination of these patterns is what allows a wide variety of memories to form. For example, lets say you smell a cookie you like. The aroma of the cookie activates receptors in your nose that fire in a specific pattern that corresponds to "this is the smell for cookies". It is a different signal for any other smell or memory. But these patterns aren't "physical" things that exist. An analogy would be like that of a hard drive. If your hard drive gets wrecked, you can technically rebuild it to work like a hard drive again, but any data on it may be gone. Because the data is software or "storied" in the form of specific electric charges that can be translated into data by a computer. You can recreate the physical hardware but not the current or electricity on it. It's a similar case for Wolverine. Damaging his brain does mean he can restore the neurons, but not the signals those neurons learn since signals aren't genetic or physical things that can be restored.
@anthonyroberts748611 ай бұрын
Wolverine healing his brain is like replacing a harddrive, you don't keep the data of the original.
@alexman3788 ай бұрын
If a destroyed brain could heal itself, it would have all the functions a brain should have, but memories aren’t physical. It would be reset. Same as what would happen to any destroyed part of your body if it could heal itself, it would be restored to its original prime form.
@gtaonlinebackgroundnoise47722 жыл бұрын
I think the reason the adamantium bullet erased his memory is because it was strong enough to pierce his skull and destroy his brain giving him amnesia because even though his brain healed his memories wouldn’t
@Anthologic Жыл бұрын
That’s the reason they actually gave in the movie.
@alexman3788 ай бұрын
That’s actually scientifically accurate. The part of the brain that stores memory is in the front. If that gets damaged, you’ll forget things, depending on the damage.
@MikeMarlowe-ym3zy6 ай бұрын
@@alexman378there are a lot of important things happening in that part of the brain I think after he woke up he should’ve been even more of a feral animal than when he escaped the weapon x experiment, until Charles got to him and helped restore him a little.
@therizzler06094 ай бұрын
@Anthologic the logic behind it is actually very clever, you see neurons move in specific patterns to form memories, if the brain is damaged like that then all memories will be lost, that's point where Wolverines healing factor comes, because you see to reform the said memories new tissues must be created and when it comes to Logan he regenerates his old tissues and never any new ones
@totallytravicious59193 ай бұрын
The fact that people constantly complain about how "little" sense that makes when it's literally exactly how a regenerating brain would work. Wolverine remembers who he is in the comics bc his brain technically can't be damaged without trying really hard due to his skeleton, and deadpool is able to remember by cheating and like reading his own comic books between panels or whatever. It bothers me that people don't seem to understand how simple the idea of memories not coming back with the flesh that houses it really is.

The sad/ironic thing is that on paper the concept of Weapon XI sounds pretty cool... if he hadn't been Wade Wilson. The concept of amalgamating several mutant powers into one uber weapon sounds like it could've been a really cool and intimidating enemy, and if they'd made an original character, or pulled an Aldrich Killian and taken a rather obscure name from the comics an slapped it on an OC, it could've been really cool. Instead they used Deadpool, despite it being nothing like him. It's a key lesson for games, TV and Film adaptations, the In Name Only trope works on obscures who barely anyone knows ad absolutely no one cares about, when used on popular characters it just makes everyone angry.
@donovanfaust3227 Жыл бұрын
Admittedly Deadpool would have been considered an obscure character to the average movie goer at the time of the films release. Sure by that point Deadpool's popularity had risen quite a bit within the comics community but no way would he have been able to be named by the average person when listing out superheroes they knew about.

Great video as always. But one thing I had a small issue with is towards the end of the story. The bullet doesn't have magic mind erasing power, it's just a bullet. What happens is his bones are covered in a very rare and special metal that is close to impervious, the exception to this indestructible property is more of the same metal. So you get an bullet made from the same material to penetrate his skull. Nothing about the bullet is special, he's just been shot in the head which won't kill him, but damages his memories.

I have a specific reason why the Wolverine movie made Sabretooth and Wolverine brothers. The movie was made not long after the Wolverine: Origins comic miniseries. That story introduced a character named Dog Logan, the son of an abusive groundskeeper for Logan's childhood home in early 1900s Canada. The Groundskeeper was named Logan and looked exactly like Wolverine as an adult. The implication is that Groundskeeper Logan was having an affair with Wolverine's biological mother, Lady Lowlett. Wolverine's real name is James Howlett. Groundskeeper Logan had a son named Dog, who he was abusive too. Dog and Logan were childhood friends. Groundskeeper Logan murders the man of the estate, James Howlett Sr. Around that time, young James Howlett/Wolverine pops his claws and kills Groundskeeper Logan. His mother in anguish commits suicide because she was in love with Groundskeeper Logan. So basically this Groundskeeper was James Howlett/Wolverine's biological father due to having an affair with Wolverine's mother. Later on, Dog Logan returns in the story, and he more closely resembles Victor Creed/Sabretooth. They didn't really clarify Sabretooth's origins at the time yet, so the story gave off the implication that Dog Logan would eventually grow up to become Sabretooth, but I think that's no longer the case.

The intro was the best thing I saw in a video game growing up. I remember my dad giving me this game one day and didn’t even bother looking at the rating. It had the character, so it must be for kids. Won’t ever forget.

Watching this gets me even more excited for the new Wolverine game by Insomniac. Insomniac really understood Spider-Man and really stay faithful to who Spider-Man is. So I really hope they do the same with Wolverine. The creative director did say the new game is going to be a "mature tone" so thats something to be hopeful of. However there is one thing that I really want the most and it's the real time damage and healing that we see implemented in this game. Absolutely just loved seeing your character get damaged and then slowly healing in real time.

a bullet "somehow" can wipe memories, that is called exploding the brain, not as refined as electroshock, but yeah i think you brain growing back shouldn't come with the memories
@forickgrimaldus8301 Жыл бұрын
Not to mention that while Wolverine is ridculous at healing himself, memories are based on the tissues of the Brain and there for if its damaged, memory is also lost if it hit on the right spot, so Wolverine even if he can grow back Brain Tissue at a rate that allows him to be near unkillable, than it stands to reason the replacement tissue doesn't have the old tissue's memory.

Ahh I’ve been patiently waiting for this video. Ever since I started watching KZbin retrospectives of video games, this is one of the games I’ve wanted an in-depth review of especially after I discovered your channel. I’ve seen the improvements to your videos since your first one. From the stylish transitions that correlate with the video game you’re reviewing to actually interviewing people who worked on the games. It’s honestly amazing to see. This is definitely my favorite tie-in movie game (Return of the King as well). This is just a flat out great weapon x/wolverine game even if it wasn't a movie tie-in. Only difference is, this game is better than the source of the movie its based on. Kind of rare, in the same way of having a movie or show better than the game its based upon, which is much more difficult. When this released, I think a lot of people were soured by so many bad movie and tie-ins becoming a norm, and that a bad movie would equate to a worse/generic game. Great video.

Please do X2: Wolverine's Revenge, it's a great forbidden game. And for me was antesignan to Raven for the gameplay of this game. Wolverine's Revenge has a great story, wonderful voice acting (Mark Hammil as Wolverine and Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier), very good level designs and boss fight. Maybe the only problem was the difficulty and the absence of checkpoint. But still a Hidden Gem for all the fans.

Kickass game. I feel like it got drowned out a bit by coming out around the same time as Arkham Asylum, but it was still such an achievement. If I could point to one nitpick I've always had, I do think it's somewhat of a pity that the leather costume from the first three X-Men movies wasn't included as an unlockable costume (it was in Wolverine's Revenge for PS2) as that was such an iconic look from the original films.
