Just an FYI so my position is clear =] I do not believe DayZ has been hacked. This video was made in response to comments asking if it had been hacked, which led me to ask the same question. As mentioned in the video, I don’t know for certain-it could be a DDoS attack or something else-but what I do know is that something unintended has happened. And based on the comments from people, this has caused issues for players, ruining their ability to play uninterrupted. Which as a player, is obviously devastating. That's really all there is to it.

I don't know what the process entails when it comes to catching hackers. But, game developers need to seriously consider prosecuting and sending hackers to jail. Until hackers face real world repercussions for their actions, it will only get worse or at least go on forever.

Agreed. I know it's hard to get a criminal conviction though, and many players caught cheating are young or lack the financial resources to pay damages in civil claims. So it usually costs the company more than it recovers. However, prosecuting the creators of cheats might be a more effective tactic. Still costly, but it’s easier and can be a deterrent.

The sad thing is is that the hackers are more afraid of consequences from other hackers than they are from prosecution. This should say something about the mentality of some of these hacker groups. Especially the groups that make cheats. Read that one more time: they are more afraid of other hackers in the consequences they're in then they are of prosecution from the company that they are offending against.

In any modern western democracy, no judge is going to jail a game hacker. Cyber blackmail is a different question. There the problem is jurisdiction. For example, in the UK you can make a complaint, its investigated and the second the offending i.p. address is abroad the file is forwarded through Europol/Interpol to the offending locations police force. There its put to the bottom of the pile as the injured party is not a citizen. Online crime is a nightmare to investigate and every national police force's cyber security unit is under resourced and underskilled. As a necessity major crimes are prioritised by the experts.

from all googling I did that issue exists from 2014 and you have to limit amount of server refreshes in Steam, but it didnt really fix for me (new player since Steam Winter sale) quite sad

For anyone that doesn’t know, official server cheaters can, aimbot you through mountains from 1500m+ out, loot your dead body from 1500m+, throw loot/ unpinned nades ANYWHERE on the map while in noclip, teleport to certain places, freeze cars in the sky (and leave the horn blaring) for multiple days on end, dupe ANY item they can hold INSTANTLY at the click of a button, teleport directly to players, and even spawn entire buildings on you so you cannot move before they aimbot you. Yes I’ve seen all of this on OFFICIAL PC. And have multiple screenshots.

The spawning in on players ive personally had happen to me on official servers ps5…me and a friend did the bunker got al kinds and got stuck inside ( we did the server hop ) to get back out with the loot as i spawned back in on our map i was in the middle of absolute nowhere and started running down the road (nobody in sight) few seconds later i turn around to a fully rigged out player with all kinds pointing his gun as me…and shot me. This explains so much. For the past week or 2 I’ve been having “unexpected data response” on official console. After a couple tries it works. But about 2 hours ago (from writing this) I got attacked by a random pack of wolves with no warning, and none of my shots registered. It wouldn’t even let me log out the server. I have to force close the app to get out of the game.

You know community servers can easily lie about their player count, right? Google dayz battle metrics and type in the server name. It will give you the real player count over the previous 24 hrs, 7 days etc

This has been a problem for ages. Servers can spoof their numbers to make them appear higher on the list if you sort by pop meaning people are more likely to play on them

Yeah unfortunately you might either be playing on a "fake" server or just extremely unlucky cause that map is HUGE. But it's probably a fake server that shows a bunch of people playing that actually has next to no one playing in it.

This has been the case for weeks, before christmas I played with a couple of friends on different official servers, all had normal ms in the overlay or sometimes no servers showed up. Servers were super laggy where me and/or my friends keep teleporting while sprinting. Constantly we are getting kicked out of the server so we decided to quit playing

Hackers are on every vanilla servers lately, even on new Frontline servers. Where you just keel over from nothing in middle of nowhere, going back 5min later body and everything is gone. Or you hear a distant shot and you keel over dead from one shot even with tier 4 armour on. Spawn in and 1s later gets killed again even after mutiple spawn ins

In their defence they pay for the best anticheat that's compatible with DayZ and they constantly include exploit issues and hack safeguards in every patch. We had 2 wipes last year related to them trying to fix duping for example. But with cheat repairs, they don't include them in the patch notes because they don't want people knowing exactly what has been patched to avoid them easily working around it. It's much harder to fix an exploit when you don't know the issue. So they are trying, I think their only issue is they're not telling people about these fixes in any capacity so everyone assumes they're not working on it, but they genuinely do.

When direct connect fails, the server usually shows up in your recebt tab, even though the connection failed. At this point I favorite it, and then connect that way.

Today on Official, I came across a detailed train where all but two of the train cars didn’t spawn in. All of the loot was floating roughly 2 feet above the tracks (where they would be if the train cars spawned in) and there was a pair nbc pants floating about 10 feet above the tracks. I could walk right through where the train cars would have been.

If it ain’t dupers, it’s lag-switchers, if it’s not them it’s people who cheat through walls, etc. I have multiple clips of people blatantly cheating. This is not new, plus it's not a bohemia attack but a nitrado attack affecting dayz. Anything official from nitrado will definitely push the focus over to bohemia, ddosing game servers has been going on for many years.

I hope finnaly the devs come up with something good..I'm big fan of the game and have 3000+ hours. But I never understood why the devs don't focus first on the basics and fix the hacker issues. So much BS from their part and making stupid things into the game instead of addressing these issues. Let alone to be hosting a popular server and your job is finding hackers.

I own an xbox server. Past few days my server keeps resetting every half hr even though its set to every 2 hr. No rpt issues. Straight pissing me off
