Eu sempre tive dúvidas sobre 4 frutos, o guaraná, café, buriti e azeitona. Será que podem ser comidos in natura? O Guaraná sempre vejo em pó, em sucos, refrigerantes, mas nunca ouvi falar do fruto em si, se pode ser comido. O café é um bago, um fruto, mas sempre que vemos é ressecado ou tostado, quando não em pó. In natura só vi em plantações. O buriti usam muito para fazer óleos, cremes, mas nunca vi menção em comer o fruto in natura. A azeitona, sempre em conservas, imersa naquela salmoura, não se se o fruto na árvore é comível.

Hi Alfie! Here go some pronunciation tips for you. So, in Portuguese, the letter "C" sounds the same as the letter "K". It will only make a "S" sound when it's written with a "Ç" (cedilha) or the "little tail" at the bottom of the "C". That's how you tell the difference. For example, cupuaçu is pronounced: coo - poo - ah - soo. Great video as always, hope you have a lovely evening!

Ata is called "Fruta do conde" in the Southwest. My favorite fruit is Caqui (sweet like honey!) and I loved that it was in the video. Graviola juice is very good, and Cupuaçu is incredible with chocolate. Some fruits in the video are better as juice like Cajá, caju, graviola, acerola (its great with orange juice).

Hey Alfie, the pronouncing of the R in Portuguese can change, usually when it starts a word or when there are two R's together, in "Rio" for example, it's pronounced like "Hee-oh". When it's in the middle of a word, in "maracujá" for example, it has a more similar sound to English, but it's less charged, like in the word "rat"

Caju is actually where cashew nuts come from. The nut above the "apple/orange like part" is the cashew nut, but it has to be dehydrated and toasted to be eaten like a nut. And just a tip about portuguese lol, you sometimes say the C right but sometimes not. At Jabuticaba for example you said it like if it was written with a S. Everytime you see the syllable CA, CO and CU in portuguese, it has what we call a C sound, so the sound would be like in english - Camp, Couple, Customer. If the C is followed by the letter E or I (CE or CI), the C has a S sound, like the words Service and System. And the Ç has a S sound. So in "Cupuaçu" for example the first syllable has a C sound and the last one an S sound. hope it helped you :) ps pitaya is absolutely not the best one lol

The point is that Brazil is so vast that I do not know some of that fruits because it is not common in my region. The ones that i can find in the streets here in Minas Gerais(BH) are: carambola, caqui, acerola, jabuticaba, jaca, pitanga but also avocado and mango. Nowdays, it is not easy to find those fruits on the hortfruit stores, it is easier to get them in the trees.

My favourite by far is umbu. Far as I know, it only exists in Brazil and in an specific region of Brazil (Northeast). The umbu tree only produces fruit in december-february, so I have to wait all year to eat them ;~; It's SOOOOOOO GOOD.

Okay, its time to some explanation about Brazilian pronunciation, Alfie! The letter "C" has always a /k/ sound like in Calendar if it comes before an A, O, U. and it has an /s/ sound before E and I. Sometimes you will find this Ç with a simbol bellow. And it tells you to read C as /s/ before A, O, U

We don't actually eat avocado with sugar. What we have here is actually sort of a cousin to avocados we call abacate, which looks the same but smoother and the taste of the fruit alone is already pretty sweet. Given that Brazil already likes their sweets VERY sweet, we pour sugar on a fruit that's already pretty sugary. With some lime if you are fancy.

1- Açaí is literally very good(It's from the north but it got really popular), but you can't eat without hitting it because it is very hard. It has a medium taste, can be sweet and salty (LIKE AVOCADO) 2- Guaraná I never ate raw, but the juice and soda are very goooood 3- Carambola is sour (I particularly like it), but the juice tastes good 4- Bacuri is a fruit from the north (where I live) you probably won't find it easy in São Paulo, Rio etc. I don't like it but it's Paulo 5- Never ate Ata :/ (And you said right) 6- Rambutã can scare you, but it is literally very tasty! Ata is also known as "fruta do conde". Pitaya is not brazilian, the english name for this is dragonfruit, we just have it now in Brazil. It takes +/- 12h to fly from Brazil to England, depending on the state you come from, so Yes, you can have some of them in England, but they probably will be expensive. Jaca has 2 tipes, a harder one that is not so sweet and a soft one that is very sweet, the harder type is used to make "fake meat" for vegan people. Caju is the fruit where you can find "castanha de caju", I don't know if "castanha" in english is seed or some other name. A lot of people are confused to identify without trying which is acerola and which is pitanga, but acerola is round and pitanga has "waves". Jabuticaba is a fruit that just exists in Brazil, some love and some hate, I personally don't think it has so much taste. A lot of fruits there are from north and northeast of Brazil, and lots of them are not sweet 🤣
