I have been using chatgpt but most times it's codes doesn't pass through gcc without so many error. But with this video, I have actually learnt new ways to go about the use of the chat.

I can't believe I just found this info like 7 months after it was posted. Damn!! I had to learn all these mistakes the hardest way. My very first cohort is graduating from the ALX SE program this December, -- if not already graduated. And I am still here after several reregistrations and deferrals, and not even close to half of my journey. Because I just always tried to do it from the resources. This is not even fair. I learned this the hard way but I'm glad I still got to hear someone say it/confirm it. Now I know I'm not crazy. Thanks so much boss. We'll get there.

Not necessarily, @MELVYNE Remember ChatGPT explains whatever code it writes out to you. This is one of the best ways you can understand exactly what you are doing. A lot of students are copying and pasting without the least understanding, and ALX knows this, that is why they brought Kimba. Even if they could pass the code to ChatGPT to explain before pasting, it would have been better. That way, you can even rewrite the code in your own way. It's a great resource.

Sure, after a while, you get used to the syntax, without the need for references. But for the start you will surely need lots of guidance and help, and chatGPT provides just that. The most important thing is to know the exact prompt to use.

If you believe you did an original work, i think you should dispute the flag. ChatGPT is an AI that concatenates strings based on its training. So it might have used code from a certain codebase which is similar to some work already done. Once you understand the code it gave to you, you can try and rewrite it in your own way.

That's why AI was invented in the first place. Google is bringing another massive one too.. It doesn't always spit the right answers, you'd have to ask it the right questions too. So it's not a one way traffic. chatGpt spits nonsense too. Many developers in the industry are utilising it, the sooner you admit to yourself that it's here to make developer's work easier the better. I still understand where your point is for a beginner. Understanding concepts is key.
