a great score can make or break a film. This drips of pure epicness and in the film was the perfect music for the showdown between Ives and Boyd.

This was my favorite showdown. I know there's black comedy laced over this movie. But I take it so seriously everytime I see it, and I feel every vicious attack in this confrontation. I would want my protagonist of a story to go down like Boyd did while taking down Culqhoun in this movie, with that same eeriness and feeling of there being no way back.

I'd dare any film director to try and make a ravenous 2 and make it as epic and moving as the original. in my opinion it would be near impossible, the female director Antonia bird did something phenomenal with this movie, the cast the setting the choice on the score and choosing the people to compose it. I've never seen a film before or after this that has made me feel the way this film does. it intrigues me and yet it terrifies me and makes me laugh, crazy emotions when I watched this movie when I was a young lad.

My first thoughts when hearing this were that it reminded me quite a bit of Akira Yamaoka's score for Silent Hill games - not so much the centerpiece songs that had lyrics, but the more ambient tracks on most of them. I'd look into them, perhaps.

Even the way the beat loops reminds me of that freaky as all fuck distorted piano-string-y thumping in the room with the bugs and the hole in the wall (if i'm remembering the game correctly, i believe the sound shows up at the end of Ashes and Ghosts on the ost)

One of my favourite films and easily my favourite soundtrack to any film. From here, an obligatory, though barely-necessary spoiler alert... I have to say though, I often wondered if it would've been more of a full-circle to have had things adjusted so that Boyd kills Ives and then have that final, brutal battle with the recently deranged Col. Hart.
@jonaswhitt43222 жыл бұрын
that would have been against harts character though, he was set up as a good man who just lost his way, and him begging for boyd to kill him was a realization of that and a redemption. Ives is nothing more than raw instinct and a apex predator, makes the perfect antagonist to have a final showdown with.
@JacksonWithrow822 жыл бұрын
@@jonaswhitt4322 A fine point! And I agree with you from a character perspective. To do otherwise would be to switch gears on that. I think though that there is a context with the corruptibility of people and once some lines have been crossed, there is no turning back/what was is now gone forever. That is to say, even a purely good man like Col. Hart is vulnerable to evil in the end. I think that adds to the "horror" of the story even though yeah, it's against the character's framework. Given that the only way to really stop the Wendigo is illustrated by Boyd's sacrifice, the fact that Hart kind of did it before him maybe dilutes the impact of the final message?
