Remember this, HURTING PEOPLE HURT PEOPLE. Anyone who bullies you or is unkind to you, they hate themselves and probably their lives....not you. They just direct their hate your way. It’s a lot easier to pick on someone else than to take a good look in the mirror. Good for you for your positive attitude, it will take you a long way. I’m proud of you, I don’t know you...but I’m still proud of you. Always always stay true to YOU....

Hello...everyone loves the movie Mean Girls. They made others feel bad because they thought they are better and set expectations of high school. I'm glad a movie comes out on fat-shaming and we get to see the other side. Bullying hurts and makes the individual do bad things to themselves or others. Same! The show's absolutely brilliant, all that serious stuff wrapped up in hilarious comedy.

Literally all/most of the actual chubby/fat people (like myself) don’t have a problem with this show, and I’m actually really looking forward to watching the show. And skinny people are the ones saying that this show is fat shaming. ITS NOT. Your thigh gaps, and small waist (which I would love to have) will never have to know the humiliation of fat shaming. This show shows the truth. So I’m really hoping this show does air, and that it doesn’t cancel just because some people can’t shut up and just not watch it. I didn’t mean to offend anyone in any type of way (because people on the internet are ALWAYS so sensitive), I’m just stating my opinion

FrostyBlue 3 Exactly. It’s kind of like how a majority of people calling out “privileged because of the system!” are students/young adults who are lucky enough to have college paid for and families that are either financially or emotionally supportive, if not both. Actually oppressed people are too busy working full time and getting an education to worry about other people, and smart people know that demanding someone have less because you are jealous and wanting them to feel miserable with you instead of working harder to achieve your own success is a counterproductive ideology. Someone will always have more and you will just make yourself miserable and often get nowhere in the process.
@kapuskasing136 жыл бұрын
There's nothing wrong with fighting for a level playing field for everyone. People who deal with oppression everyday shouldn't have to go to extreme lengths and hope for a lot of luck to be successful. That's just the none sense of the American Dream that's fed to Americans to keep the downtrodden hopeful and prevent them from revolting against the reality that capitalism can only exist on slavery, be it slavery at home or slavery abroad. The flaws of the American Dream have been explored for decades now, it's not a recent phenomenon brought forward by all the SJWs on social media. There are very famous examples of literature from the past century that explore these ideas (The Great Gatsby, Death of a Salesman) so it's clear that people have been questioning this system for a very long time. Capitalism can only thrive on slavery. If you have a laptop or a phone to comment on, you're profiting on the conflict and human rights violations that surround the mining of the mineral coltan. It's important to acknowledge your privilege and/or lack thereof.

Speak for yourself. This chubby guy who has struggled with binge eating my entire life finds it pretty irresponsible for a show to market jaw wiring as a valid way to treat a mental health problem.
@NormalpeoplescaremeK6 жыл бұрын
Actually, the show prove that the jaw accident resolved the "apparence problem" but not the mental problem. If you watch the show, you can clearly see that Patty's journey started after become thin and she have to continuously fight with her new and old self for accept who she is now and who she used to be. I'm a chubby girl from the start of my life and actually I haven't found nothing offensive or irresponsible in this show. I think worth watching it since it give quite deep messages about different social issues.

ultraofrahfan1 A satire isn't supposed to be taken seriously, it's an over exaggeration. Looks like you are taking it to heart. This show is making fun of 2000's high school drama movies and a lil bit of the creator's actual high school experience.

ultraofrahfan1 A SATIRE IS THE PREPARATION OF STEREOTYPES IDIOT. It's an exaggeration of a genre or something going on in the real world. They are making an exaggeration of the high school movie genre. The show is about REVENGE. She ruins the lives of people who made her miserable. She hates how differently they treated her once she lost weight. Don't like then don't watch.
@bifurioussiren6 жыл бұрын
ultraofrahfan1 yeah... That's the point.. I'm not sure if you understand what a dark comedy or "black comedy" even is. It's supposed to be ridiculous and over the top. Yeah, they throw every fat stereotype... THAT'S THE POINT. Like, I think everyone offended by this doesn't understand something completely critical and integral in reading media. Is the show writer bad if she writes a mean character who says something mean? Or is it the character that's the asshole? Are we not supposed to make ANY character do bad things because then that means the author must condone or agree with their actions?

I really hate how trendy "outrage culture" has gotten. So many people just seem to enjoy getting outraged just for the sake of getting outraged. I think the show does a GOOD JOB at showing that treating someone like garbage just for the way they look, is a really bad attitude! It also does a good job at showing that just because someone (regardless of their gender) looks quote unquote "hot" doesn't make them a saint, either. There are plenty of attractive (from the societal perspective) people that flat out just SUCK as human beings! They are ugly on the inside and are not worth anyone's time or effort! This society is so narcissistic that it prioritizes on conforming to trends about how people LOOK instead of focusing on OPTIMUM HEALTH! If someone's body is HEALTHY then it will automatically be whatever configuration that it is supposed to be, regardless of what that "looks like" and regardless of what anyone's opinions are about it. As Patty's character shows, people gorge on unhealthy stuff when they HATE THEMSELVES. They are trying to fill an emotional void with something physical. When a person hates themselves, there are lots of things people do to attempt to fill that void. Sex, porn, drugs, alcohol and all sorts of things. I think the people who embrace outrage culture as a trend hate themselves worst of all. They may or may not be trying to fill their voids with any of the before mentioned things, but one thing these people do to attempt to fill that void is hate on others. Nothing is ever good enough for them. They dream up excuses to be offended by every little thing and to hate on people for every little thing. They are the bullies that they claim to be defending people against. They hate themselves so much that they want the rest of humanity to know their pain and feel it directly. They think that if everyone else is suffering, then so should they. We have become a truly narcissistic society and Insatiable makes this point very clear as well! So, good job, Insatiable cast! Keep being politically incorrect! Haters gonna hate, its not your problem!

I watched the first episode last night and was left with the impression that all the negativity this show received was misplaced. I didn’t get the feeling that this show itself is fat shaming at all. There are characters who are fat shaming and bullying the main character but their jokes fall flat. They aren’t meant to be funny, and the tone of the show makes that clear. I don’t think the goal was to get the audience to laugh at her alongside her bullies, and I can see a few interesting directions the show is moving in that are totally unrelated to that. I think people should give the show a chance before they judge.

I understand that this is a very sensitive topic and all that, but the shoe didn't even come out yet. As we all know by now, trailers can be very different than what the shoe actually is. My opinion after watching this full series, is the trailer is for over weighted people that you can get bullied for you’re weight but it’s wrong. That’s what the trailer is showing people. Patty in the series became skinny because she felt horrible and couldn’t control herself over food. So patty in the show is trying to tell people who are over weight or don’t feel great about there selfs don’t be unhealthy work out and get skinny or get to a body type that you love without feeling hurt or body shamed. Normally the people who were watching the trailer were just watching the trailer and judging it without actually watching the full series.

I think the main issue with the trailer was the wording. Saying that she turned hot when she got skinny implies that she wasn't when she was heavier. In my opinion, if they had left that out and just said people started treating her different when she lost weight, then it would have been fine. The trailer does not define the show, but it is a source of advertisement and who ever did it should have thought about how they were representing the show. I hope that it does all the things they are saying, as I agree this is a topic that should be discussed.
@winxclubfairiesrule16 жыл бұрын
Babyybeauty345 i agree about maybe changing the wording, but that's how teens talk. They say when they think somebody is hot ot ugly or fat. I think this is a realistic but at the same time slightly exaggerated to show how kids who are fat are treated by their peers. Her getting skinny wasn't her becoming more hot or beautiful, but her getting to a point where she felt that she could actually do something about all the people in her life who amde her feel bad about herself when in actuality wmthere wasn't anything wrong with her being fat in the first place, she was still beautiful. She was just chubby, but honeatly that makes a person more adorable. Like pinchable cheeks, great pillows to rest on (i know thats sounds bad but i mean it in a good way) and they are just adorable and all around amazing. But ina ll honesty, people have an issue with her being skinny because they wanna press this issue. While being fat doesn't always mean you are unhealthy, that can be the case a lot of the time. There isn't anything wrong with it, but not everybody feels comfortable Being fat, especially if they have people to make them feel bad about it. And especiaply in her case, being fat looks like it could have become a health issue because it looks she stress eats and stuff like that, so all the stress makes her eat more and stress makes it barder to lose weight, so eventually who knows what kind of health issues she could have gotten from that neverending cycle. I lowkey got off topic, but i mostly agree with you about your statement

I feel like a lot of the people getting offended by the trailer, this situation doesn't even apply to them. And besides, "Overweight girl loses weight and is now seen as pretty" Like, welcome to the real world? Watch the ending be about how Patty learns to accept herself and all the offended people are like "Oh, nvm." Watch all the same people who are offended, stan by this show after watching the whole thing. This is satire, people really need to lighten up.
