Thank you for this video. I have felt very comfortable with the idea of self-publishing, and now I feel completely confident about it! Marketing is not my strong suit, but now I know where to start. Thanks again!

This was a very interesting video to see one self-published author's perspective and journey on her work. Thank you for sharing this collab with us, and I will definitely check out Nour Zikra as well as I've never heard of her channel before.

You sure looked excited doing this video. As of having self-published three books, marketing is by far the hardest. And I lost so much money with Facebook ads and recently on Amazon, I had to stop them as I had no results. I was nearly broke because of them.

Getting my first book out there. Was so stressful. I had to take a break away from it. My anxiety became horrible at points

I self published my first book. I'm trying to query the sequel. I also have a poetry collection I'd like to query. But it's hard to find agents who want poetry. At least for the moment

Traditional publishers/agents won't touch self-published works unless said work is very successful, then they suddenly become very interested. Just ask Andy Weir, he originally self-published "The Martian". It's an extremely rare occurrence though.

Does Alyssa think that Amazon is only for eBooks? Does she know that you can do hard back, soft cover, or electronic?

If you go with KDP or I think Ingramspark Amazon refuses to put your book in stores or in physical online. Can't remember which but I think the latter due to a lack of distribution exclusivity.

Is it good or bad, when a traditional publishing house takes longer to get back to you, after your submission?
@rowan79293 жыл бұрын
Nothing bad. They are just busy. I had a response after a year from some agents. Rejections of course. Few weeks ago I got a response from and agent after 6 months, her stating she was terribly busy. A rejection, unfortunately but at least I got a response. I had enough who don't. So don't be worried when you don't hear back from them any time soon.

I have no idea what she’s saying when she’s talking about her print distributor. Ingrams park?
@absolutelycitron15808 ай бұрын
Ingram spark. Tho you probably figured that out by now lol

Why is Nour jumping up and down? It’s distracting
@michaelperrigo Жыл бұрын
Because this is a fake interview that was spliced together and then the spliced part of Nour was heavily cut between takes lol. I guess she goes up on her toes each time she starts a take😂. Also talks way too fast so you know they're not real time, there's no synchronicity between their vibe

Lol she looks like a video game character that keeps respawning 😂 good info though, just an observation
@prepareforbattle20513 жыл бұрын
sounds like she could not get a literary agent, that's why she self published.
