I am a bank teller, and I just have to say I love when people know exactly what they want. Even if you don't, thats ok! We will figure it out together. I get paid to serve you and I am happy to do so. I do love striking up conversations about the cash envelopes, so much fun to get ideas and inspiration from others!! You're awesome Alyssa!!!

Thank you for these videos! My boyfriend and I have just started following Dave Ramsey's baby steps, but budgeting is my weak point. I love that you take everything out of the bank and then deposit before a bill is due. I just took all our money out of the bank and I'm a little overwhelmed with how many bills and subscriptions the two of us have. Hopefully watching these videos will keep us inspired and on track. Thanks again and sorry for the paragraph!

Did you have your emergency fund or baby step 1 completed before you started sinking funds?
@alyssamakeseverything
@alyssamakeseverything 5 жыл бұрын
I had my $500 emergency fund before I started (because I was under the income threshold that Dave Ramsey recommends the lower emergency fund for) but then when my income went up, I was doing sinking funds while simultaneously increasing my emergency fund to the full $1000.

I love your videos so much! I messaged you once before that you inspired me to start working my way out of debt and start using a cash envelope system. I get paid once a month as a state employee so it's been a little bit of trial and error figuring out what works best but I think I'm getting there. In December my cat ended up getting hit by a car (he's 100% fine and healed!) but it ended up being over $1,000+ dollars in emergency vet bills, and BECAUSE of the cash envelope system, I had that money put away and was able to pay for my cat's care without charging up a credit card or being unable to afford it. Thank you so much for taking the time making these videos! :D

Oh my gosh, I'm so glad your cat is okay! I'm so glad you were able to cash flow the whole thing! That's what this is all about 😍 You're so awesome!

Does your main bank have Zelle? The Capital One app does and you just go into Capital One, press on your checking account, hit “Send Money With Zelle,” request however much from your main account using your phone number or email you have linked to your main bank account and then you confirm the transfer either through your email/text or in your main accounts app and it goes through immediately even during non-business hours💝

Yes I do! I have a capital one checking called "Money for Bills" and that's where I set up all of my auto-pays to draft from.

I wish I was paid biweekly, I love running the numbers when I get a paycheck and putting every extra cent on my debt snowball. After payday I eagerly wait a month to make a new budget. Never went over budget so far, but I want time to fly haha. Oh well, I'll just watch your video's instead to live vicariously through you

Just a quick observation: Why don’t you just Zelle the money to yourself instead of transferring it and having to wait the 2-3 business days? My two bank accounts are the Capital One 360 and Bank of America. I get paid through my BOA account and all of my bills come out of Capital One. So when I know the number I need to transfer, I use Zelle so it’s immediate. The 2-3 business day transfer makes me nervous lol
@alyssamakeseverything
@alyssamakeseverything 5 жыл бұрын
I could probably pretty easily do that, but so far the transfer time hasn't negatively impacted me so I just haven't bothered 😂

Even with only 15 hours a week I’ve managed to pay off one source of debt and I’m slowly working on my credit card but it’s down from 500 to like 250 so not bad.

Does your boyfriend also budget using this method? I notice you don't have a go out to eat envelope, do you just not go out to eat or use your spending envelope?
@alyssamakeseverything
@alyssamakeseverything 5 жыл бұрын
He doesn't! I'd be happy to teach him if he wanted to but right now he's managing his money just fine without my help 😂 I have Celiac disease that has gotten VERY sensitive and very serious over the last year, so I very rarely can go out to eat unless I REALLY trust the place we're eating. And when we do go out I usually take it out of my spending envelope 😊

first and foremost no but I’m also not going to quit those jobs anytime soon. They have been there for me since I graduated high school and when I quit my cashier job they gave me the other job. I love the jobs they just don’t pay much so I’m trying to find a job that will go around their schedules.
