Thanks, those old radios are interesting, the more you know about them, the better.

At some point they got more sensitive using Silicone transistors instead of Germanium. The Silicone have more gain and less noise..

Wow, look at the length of that ferrite rod--that's what catches my eye!

These are great long-range radios. I just restored one and it performs as well other modern-day long range radios. This model has a good size ferrite antenna. We Thanks for the video

The circuit is very good. The Dial is not! If you just need to pick up a weak station it is great. DX wise the dial is a joke!

Love your insights and comments sir. It seems the Duracell batteries leak the most of all the alkaline. Rechargeables, not so much but don't last as long. I hate when that gunk leaks out and corrodes the battery spring or worse the pcb and components! Had an idea to just run small radios off a wall wart or external battery pack. Some of the larger Channel Masters (see #6520) had a battery channel or moat to keep the acid from getting into the radio. The little Sony SRF-59 has something like that too as well as some of the Samsungs. But the battery acid always finds a way to ruin things!

I can hear it but there is too much digital noise from my neighborhood in that section of the band. I think that station was one that broadcast hockey games years ago. There may have also been an 800 station from Canada way back.

There are several stations on that frequency. I will try again tonight. I did not get an ID. Very noisy on that end of the band here.
