If I want a quick bike, I'd buy a 1290SAS or Multistrada before buying a 1300GS. Not to mention, you're paying 21k for the TE, with a couple extra options, that's before adding luggage, another £1500-2000. So 22.5k/23k. Also, still no illuminated switch gear!!!

It's actually the lightest bike in the heavyweight AdvTourer class now at 522 lbs wet (KTM 1290 SAS is 540 lbs). And it also makes the most torque at 110 lbs.ft (KTM 101). The Akrapovic is homologated so won't sound anything better than the Euro 5 OEM exhaust, it's just for looks, but that doesn't help if you have the panniers on. KTM will always be the dirt king, but the GS is well-balanced, and the easiest bike to live with on the road.

237kg is light ,but you haven't taken a few things into account, additional options that most will spec, which will add more weight. The 237kg is measured with cast alloys, no crash protection, and it will add addional weight for most other options. You can add at least 7 kg for crash bars, which most will want on the bike. I read a post on one of the FB groups, 1300GS owner, after taking delivery of his 1300GS TE with around £2k addional options. Spoked wheels, etc, added full crash protection. Pannier racks, electric screen, height adjustment, heated seats. bike is coming in at 246kg.

@@inked-96No different to its direct competition. Add panniers, crash bars, spoked wheels, racks and spotlights to my Multistrada and it'll weigh more than the spec sheet. 🤷‍♂

@@droommotor Everything is a compromise. A Tiger 900 is nice and light, but gives up comfort and power, so it's whatever is the right compromise for the buyer. Clearly the GS/GSA get the balance right for more buyers, for more of the time, going by sales. and having owned multiple Tigers, multiple Multistrada's, and four GS/GSA's I see where they are coming from.

No, it's not. The stated weight is a myth. Complete marketing nonsense. My test bike did not have any protective gear and already weighed 257kg. Don't fall for that crap.

What stood out most for me was how poor the indicators show, even in the dark- I do not like these integrated light\ blinckers.

Haha bro, ik heb hem daar laatste ook gereden in Alkmaar, gelukkig toen wel op een zonnige dag! Mega smooth en veel lineaire power. Zadelverwarming en elektrische windscherm maakt hem nog comfortabeler! Wel een soort rare mechanische klik als je hem opentrekt vanuit lage toeren/hoge versnelling. Verder echt een legendarische voortzetting van de GS, in dynamic mode power wheelies for days!

It’s not necessary. But with many bikes I’ve had once you had it you mis it when it’s not there. But that’s personal.

Ik moet zeggen, als je hem in het echt ziet dan is die wel mooier. Maar ben ook erg benieuwd naar de nieuwe Stelvio!

I tested it and have to say: utter disappointment! Mediocre suspension, horrible sound, cheap details such as a wobbly plastic rack, cramped seating position, my feet collide with the passenger pegs, much heavier than stated (my test bike weighed 257kg without any protective gear, horrible gearbox and subpar quickshifter, weird sounds in the drivetrain, heavy feel...I could go on. The bike does not live up to the hype and is clearly overrated...and overpriced...I was not biased going into the test ride but I will keep my blody fantastic 1100 Africa Twin which still amazes me every day...and it's beautiful! ❤ Regards from Germany.

@@droommotor thanks, mate! Yes, I put it on my scale because I was skeptical from the get-go because of BMWs weird calculation and the parts BMW got rid off on the new GS. I don't do videos. I own and ride bikes. But you know what? Check 1000PS. They had their bike on a scale and had a similar result (256.5 kg). They have a short and a video on it. The stated 237kg are fictional. No bike out there will have this weight.

@@GCTO239 Interesting I don't think many reviewers know this or would share it in their videos. But almost 20kg is quite substantial. I have put my KTM 890 R on the scale and it weighed in at around 217kg.

I had a test drive on a new Africa atas 2024 and new gs 1300 at the same day. I had a reservation on bmw and cancelled it. Disappointed. Motorcycle looks like trash in front, engine works like broken. Very, very powerful and nimble (so nimble!) motorcycle but only that. Too small, narrow - looks like small capacity, for girls. In my opinion one of the ugliest motorcycles on the market. Africa twin have a cons of course - paint quality, motorcycle drifts to the right if you have dct (+10kg on the right side), maybe power only 102hp, buttons on the left side are a little bit complicated but you feels like a king when u ride it. Looks like a beast. Real tall big adv bike. If I want to buy sport tourer I will buy tracer or suzuki much cheaper and real sport tourers. This is not gs anymore.
