First of all… don’t join unless you actually like the job. Second of all, be able to do core exercises and not just running - like me, why I didn’t make it initially.

People think the Marines is all about Phys. It’s just a component that makes soldiering easier. Thr soldiering is the hard part; nav, fieldcraft, admin, being cold, wet and miserable. Being fit will make you’re life easier, but it’s only the start.

Been constistently training for months but have been starting to get off-days such as getting up late or missing sessions and then have tried to bring something back. I definitely want this, it's just knowing how to act when recovery or life does not go in your favour. One instance I think hitting me is too much caffeine atm.

You're better off pulling your application for the Navy and applying for the Royal Marines direct. In my experience they will make it difficult for you to transfer if they are aware of your plans trust me.

No need to arrive at CTC super man. Turn up at foundation with a good attitude and good level of fitness and the training team PTI's will do the rest. As the man said, its progressive. Just dont forget the reasons why you joined and dont let unjury hold you back if you end up in Hunter. A good book to read with plenty of advice, stories and tips that helped me when i was going through training in the mid 2000's is The Making of a Royal Marines Commando by Nigel Foster. This was my bible.

I did phase 1 of reserve training in the 1970's but then left for life reasons. There was no pre joining fitness test in those days and little emphasis or help with getting fit in phase 1. I often wondered if I would have passed phase 2. I wasn't that fit and I think I would have struggled mightily to get to the level of fitness required. I also don't think I had sufficient interest to apply any mental toughness I may have had (a work colleague was an RMR corporal and got me into it, quite casual). I enjoyed the year but a pre joining fitness test would have saved the Marines a bit of time and money as I don't think I would ever have passed phase 2. Useful video which finally answered the question I've had for 50 years!

Aim for 60 push ups uninterrupted. 5-10 over grasp pull ups. 80 sit ups in 2 mins and 2.4K on a treadmill or road in under 9min 30secs. Like the person said below, take a good year to achieve these levels and you should have no issue passing through the PJFT and PRMC

You're 13, enjoy yourself, you don't need to be mentally resilient at your age you need to enjoy yourself. There's lots of time to build physical and mental strength as you naturally grow and develop physically and mentally over the next 6yrs. Take up a sport, any sport, join a cadet force, any cadet force and don't worry about it. Who you are at 13 is not who you'll be at 19.
