Thank you for these reminders, Ness. Especially what you said about art styles because you're right. Every art style has it's place! For a while I thought my drawings had to be super detailed and rendered if I wanted to find work. While I do love rendering, I understand now that it's not always necessary, and there's something out there for everyone. ❤😄

That's very true! I sometimes get all caught up in details and rendering too, and I will often see an AMAZING product or design by another artist that's so simple and genius, and it's so brilliant that it makes me feel dumb for just spending 50 hours on my painting haha!

Thank you hun, I'm glad you liked it! This is a question I get very often, and in my opinion artists usually wait TOO long to start rather than not long enough :)

Sometimes I feel like people tend to like the bad art more than really nice art. Not always of corse, but in a lot of cases yes. You can see those company style character design, OMG 😅

But what is bad art and what is nice art? 🤔 It really depends what their target audience and intent is... Maybe you and I think it's gross, but kids love it! In surface design something I've noticed is that trendy and highly marketable topics will always be more popular with companies AND customers alike. It could be the nicest art, if it won't fit with the customer's home decor, they ain't buying it...

@@ArtBusinesswithNesswhen i was a child i did have an eye for good art, but as a child what you can do??? You just consume what you are offered, an example: i never liked pink panter, but i would watch it because my family didnt really gave me options ( we didnt have cable ) growing up i didnt like lilo and stich 😂 but again, there were not a lot of options to choose from with similar products. When i discovered ghibli studios i was way more pleased with that, than disney.. and i have many examples, school books was a similar thing, they would include the most horrendous(for my taste) illustrations but, what could i do?😂😂😂

@@huntingfashiondolls3307 Lack of choice is sometimes a factor yes, but there are also lots of books/shows/products that kids are known to adore and that adults absolutely hate. An infamous example is Caillou...

@@ArtBusinesswithNess yes, of course, it makes no sense to think that my coment is a fact. Is just a random opinion based in my personal experience. If many people supported my opinion then maybe it should be considered something more.

@@huntingfashiondolls3307 It's an interesting discussion! How much of what we watch as kids is truly appealing to kids, and how much is just forced on us by adults?

There's always so much valuable information in your videos and straight to the point! 🙌🏻 Thanks! I've been painting EVERY DAY for the last 3 years, and untill very recently I found my secret sauce! 🥰 Today I check the 5 cases!! I would add also to be tolerant to risk (the unknown, the how to, pitching, doing things out of your comfort zone)

I think I am ready as a professional illustrator but my problem is not having actual people around me who are part of the field. Any ideas?

It’s not necessary to have other illustrators or even clients around you. All contracts are done online and you can reach any company in the world by email. Art friends are the same - I also don’t know any artists in my small town but I have lots of online art friends.
