Honestly, if a KZbinr gets rid of products because they're limited edition, I think they're betraying the fact that they're more salespeople and less makeup lover. They're not keeping the items they love, they're only keeping the items they can still sell.

I completely agree about decluttering limited edition palettes. I've never understood it. Why can't you enjoy a palette on or off camera just because it's no longer available. Were subscribers actually complaining about it back in the day?? If so, I've never seen it.

I think maybe 2 people did for those creators and they took it as the whole community. You know how one negative comment stands out over million positive ones…I think that’s what happened

I think it’s great that you spend a lot time outdoors with the kids over the summer and teach them things while making it fun! It’s nice to have the kids disconnect from the electronics. I hope that cash never becomes obsolete as well. It’s so easy to use a debit card but I don’t think it’s good to be fully reliant on them and be a cashless society. Decluttering… To me, it does not matter if you no longer support the creator or you can’t buy something anymore. Use the makeup and enjoy it, the money has already been spent. I enjoy seeing older pallettes and the nostalgic feeling of remembering the release! It doesn’t matter to me if I can’t buy it anymore. Duping the vibes of something is fun! But I guess that doesn’t work when you have a big creator trying to sell you on something. But if they declutter, I hope they give their items to family, friends, or donate! I hate the idea of things that could still be useful and someone else would appreciate and enjoy going into the trash!

I also dont like when people get rid of stuff because is discontinued, but I think for many youtubers the only reason to keep a product around is if there is content that can be made with/about it and since it is discontinued it serves no purpose in their collection anymore as content creators. But it also rubs me the wrong way when someone raves about a product (limited edition or not) and then a few months later it shows up in their de-clutter video. Like, how great was the product really? and how many people went and bought it based on their recommendation?

I love that we're getting more diverse blush placements these days as trend. I personally dropped a year ago the lifted kind of blush look because as the years went on I realized that the reason why I wasn't crazy about my blush is because of the placement. It looks flattering on a lot of people, but on me, it just widens my face and makes it look round instead of lifted, even though my face shape isn't even round in the first place. So I've been putting my blush in the center of my cheeks and going up to underneath my eyes so that it makes my face longer and it looks great.

I agree that it’s silly for people to get rid of makeup they like, just because the audience can’t get it. But it irritates me more when they keep stuff they don’t like or want only because it’s still available. Idk they usually complain about not having room for everything but then they take up space with stuff they won’t use. I feel like if you’re going to do a video where you talk about stuff you don’t like you can just use a picture, you don’t have to physically have the item to hold up and say I hated this.

You explain a good point on decluttering LE palettes and when a YTer says that I literally have not cared nor ever will. You threw out the palette because YOU wanted to not because thousands of your viewers were pressuring you into it. If you didn't like the palette, brand or color story then so be it, but if you're putting blame on your community for not being able to use it is a problem. What's wrong with keeping a LE palette you still love? Beauty YT has changed so much. lol

I work with my kids like that too, all year long. It's a fun way for them to learn without realizing they are learning. I want to see what you are growing in your garden! I tend to cycle through what I plant each year based on what is running low in my canning stash. This year it will be a LOT of tomatillos and peppers since I'm sadly out of my salsa verde. 😭 Boyfriend blush...eh...not thanks. I honestly do not understand the decluttering mentality. At. All. I get if something has gone bad, if something just doesn't work for you, or even if a friend wants something that you are happy to give them. But getting rid of things just for the sake of getting rid of things, only to go and buy more stuff that is practically the same as what you just "decluttered" is just bonkers to me. Hey! Don't hate on the 80s!!! 🤣

I hadn’t thought of that perspective when it comes to limited edition declutters. But I think you hit the nail on the head when you mentioned review channels. If you’re reviewing literally hundreds of palettes a year, your main audience probably doesn’t see as much value in content with limited edition items. And if you’re reviewing that much makeup, you can’t use the older items you have.

Certain makeup colors and styles suit different face shapes, eye shapes, skin tones, etc. I know things are not flattering on my face. Certain things are trendy online, but when you walk into church, to pick up the kids, or grocery store, we will get stares from some of these TikTok makeup trends. 😂I think Gen Z and Gen alpha really want to go viral on TikTok so they come up with all these random trends. My partner’s daughter has softball until the end of June and he’s going to keep her home too. He works from home 100% remote which is good because it saves on babysitting or having to drop her off with a relative in the summer months.

If I discontinue something it's because it doesn't work with my skin/makeup or it's broken/smelly. I have limited editions I have been using and even panning since I stocked them up yers agp (not a word about how expired they are okay???) because how much I like them. Like metallic lipsticks Kiko had a while ago for their anniversary, or the Unicor tears from Too Faced or those Fenty Christmas themed frosty lipsticks in that weird cigarette kind of case which for some reason had a mirror inside even if the three products were very different colors (like deep grey, blue and gold... who uses a kit like that? It's not like they are a pencil, a matte and a lip topper all in similar shades XDDD)... they are still functional, I still enjoy them and I'm not going to get rid of them until they try to run away from my makeup bag, start smelling bad or I find an identical color/finish of a product which works better than those!

If someone has a large review channel, I can see why they wouldn't want to hold on to something limited edition. If they are putting out several videos a week, they may not have many makeup wearing days where they are not filming. And they cannot make money on an affiliate link for that product if the product is discontinued. Also, they may have gotten the item for free or written it off as a business expense, so it might not have as much value to them as it would to someone who is not in that situation. Not sure why smaller creators do that though.
@The_C_Word5 ай бұрын
I think though when the creator is like oh I love this item so much but it’s limited edition so I don’t think I should keep it because I can’t show it in my channel. And then they debate with themselves and end up getting rid of it!!
