Thought I was hearing a duck quacking for a minute there. You are right about Jim Gordon, he is one tough guy as well as a great with his horses. He is also a great family man and successful farmer. I could go on and on but don't forget his wife Brenda who is behind the camera most of the time and usually several steps ahead of Jim. I love the seat on your cart.

I don't think competition toughness enters into logging , its the gentleness and patience you have with your workmates , that is best described as wisdom , wisdom is learnt , it is learnt over periods of time its not depending necessarily of youthfulness . Ol' Jim Gordon is one tough logger, and a heck of a good horseman. I watch both your channels. Bill is too of the line logging horse. I just wish Jim would have took up with the American Brabant instead of those Sullfolk Punches. I got to be honest, Gus and Boom are my favorite horses on KZbin. You don’t know how we do it up north? I can’t imagine how you do it down south, 100 degrees and humid to boot! No thanks I will take a little snow any time. Mid 20’s, blue sky and no wind is a dream day up here in NY in January. I am not the biggest fan of snow but it sure beats freezing rain. By the way Gus and Boom are awesome. I don’t know when you last saw Working Horses With Jim. I know he is older than you but I applaud him for being out in all kinds of weather. Just this week he was pulling logs out to a landing through snow that was halfway to his knees and temperatures were below freezing.

I feed 450 head of cattle with a team of haflingers in real cold country we get frost from August to June I enjoy it but my kids don’t seem to they have a hard time staying warm if it was windy country I don’t know if I would like it so much I like my horses they always start in the cold and don’t get stuck

Nice team. You could use cruppers, the horse can jam his tail and use his whole spine to take the weight, definitely gives the horse an advantage, saddle or harness. Comparison is unnecessary, you have a very long way to go by way of experience, stuff happens, but certainly have made a good start.

You acclimate to the cold. Went from Greensboro NC 60deg to ND subzero in the middle of winter as a kid, felt the same as you and then the next winter it was just normal.

After a week I was down to long underwear, uniform and parka. Got back to Ohio and I could clean the windshield with my bare hands and go get the mail in my bare feet 😃. Then they sent me to Saudi Arabia…130 degrees 🤪
