@@RACEMAKECOM I suppose I'm in a funny place as far as competitive sim racing goes after forty plus years active interest in virtual racing, from Revs thru the Geoff Crammond years, rally sims, nascar sims, GT sims at large (too many to list) and dozens of leagues back in the day including VRW (which effectively became the architecture for iRacing) and beta testing extensively First Racing (which became iRacing. At 55 and bearing witness to all manner of exploitation and cheats also I have higher expectations of parity although the horizon simply doesn't seem that bright just yet. Goodwill runs throughout the community I know and that extends to the burgeoning peripheral industries from controllers to third party analysis platforms such as this. This as telemetry platforms go does have a wonderful graphic presentation style which is easy to appreciate compared to traditional squiggly sensor lines across a chart. I'm going to think about it but the temptation to get in at foundation level is strong. I also like James because as an ex racer myself (just saloons and a bit of GT testing back in the day) I feel I can relate to whats being said and that if we met we could talk turkey. Anyway, lastly, that exit curb bounces me into the next galaxy, so I've no idea how the setup is absorbing that haha. Cheers!
@petouserАй бұрын
I think in ACC you need a bit more slip angle than in RL to be quick, so pretty much the opposite iRacing This is why you have to turn in more aggressively, I reckon. I've heard a very Dutch wise physics artist and racing hardware developer say that the optimal slip angle usually lies somewhere between 6 to 8 degrees. ACC and iRacing both are kinda wrong with this in the opposite direction.
@FRFM00Ай бұрын

I definetely think for simracing, comparing telemetry is great because in most car combos, you can always find a really quick lap to compare, but in real racing unless your teammate is just that much quicker than you, you wont be getting any setups or any telemetry from other teams. Best you can do is pay attention to behaviors you dont like such as bouncyness, wheelspin, and just stuff like that, and view that type of stuff with the telemetry and just go out and try new things, I personally stay away from ALWAYS using telemetry comparing but I do know when Im losing time and when Im too slow, analyzing stuff like suspension telemetry helps.

SOLD to the sim racer over here! I'm going to order it and see what I can do in the good ol' Macca (aka: McLaren 720S GT3 EVO)! It was good to see you on familiar grounds Mr Baldwin Sir (aka: James). I wonder though about the braking and turning, you mentioned that its a big no, no in real life. Are you saying that, you shouldn't brake whilst turning even though you have scrubbed off enough speed to allow the rotation of the car for the apex? What does that do as they say to brake into the corner, fair to trail braking, which of the two will save off tenths? As always a great video from the one the only, Mr Baldwin Sir (aka: James). Excellent simply excellent.
@JaaamesАй бұрын
Cheers Brandon! So yeah in most cases when racing in real life if you turn whilst braking you will either lock up if you don’t have ABS, or if you have ABS you will engage the ABS a lot & probably overshoot the corner entry. It seems that you can get away with doing this a bit more in ACC, the tyres allow it.
