Im 68 and live with my two dogs off grid. I converted a shuttle bus into my home. The winters in the Eastern Sierras are a little rough but so much beauty!! People probably think I'm weird. Weirdo's unite!!

Keeping it weird is a good thing! My husband, kids and family think I'm weird because I backpack, go on road trips and travel abroad by myself. I take bushcraft and survival classes and was super excited to buy new knives and saws along with other outdoor gear for this summer. I have a lot of tents and tarps as well as backpacks, stoves, pads, quilts and ...well you get the picture. Sometimes I just tell my husband I'm heading out for a car camp or backpack will be back in a few days because I need the "reset." He can't understand why I feel like I should have room to sleep in the back of all of our vehicles. lol I feel like a kid when I bring home stuff I make during my bushcraft courses and my husband doesn't know where to put it all, like my carved bowls, utensils and chairs that are lashed together. We may be weird, but when other people see your videos, your adventures, your accomplishments and experience the beauty of this world through your words and photographs, they are filled with wonder and happiness. You bring others joy because they may not be able to get out and experience the same things for numerous reasons. My mother recently passed, but she had a very old saying. "Everyone is a little queer except me and thee and sometimes I wonder about thee." I always smile when I hear her say that in my head.

Next time you need to restain something with signatures, footprints or pawprints on them, stain around them, paint a pretty frame around the edges and then clearcoat over it. They can be preserved until the the wood falls apart.

That star screw head is called Torx. Next time you install them, dip the screw in exterior wood glue and they want back out. Get a torx bit for your drill. Define weird. You are just different and that is a good thing. Thanks for sharing & have a great day.

A friend asked me how long it had been to a big city. I answered "over 10 years". She said I was deprived. I asked her how long it had been since she sat in an open field and listened to the wind and the birds and watched the hawks and eagles soar. She answered "never" I replied "YOU ARE DEPRIVED". I also had friends who lived year round on their 73' converted PT boat. She said my husband and I were the only ones who understood them. You are not weird! you are my kind of friend. PS. Some say I am weird. I think I'm my kind of normal. Outdoors and nature are the real normal.

The American way is obsession with status, and wealth, and oneself. Connecting with nature, friendship, true love, art are not part of the the equation. This way of life also destoys the environment and harms the planet. Wealth reigns supreme. The value system creates loneliness. Many young people are very unhappy because of it. Your way of life does not embrace these values. Your value system is healthy and vibrant. Weird is a meaningless term. Tolerating differences is very important and people who use the term are usually ignorant and intolerant. Do not listen to them. Your value system is one I admire and I search for others who follow their own path, usually healthier then the one followed by the person who called you weird. A lot of people adhere to a destructive intolerant value system and this has to change in order for the planet, life and humanity are to survive. Thank you for being yourself. You are wonderful.

I think our job as parents is to empower our kids with the skills, a can do attitude, and good work ethnic to enable them to succeed in life. And that doesn't mean $$$$. Versatility is so important to survive. My kids doing great but I'm not sure if things really take a turn for the worse, will she be able to keep it together. I don't know.

Nothing wrong with being different. If it makes your heart sing then keep doing it cause it's what you were meant to be. Telling someone they are weird sounds kind of judgemental in a negative way and there is nothing negative about who you are. Keep being you and if someone thinks you are weird maybe they want everyone to be the same which would be horrible.

You didn't say at the beginning "Hi and welcome to Spirit Forest". lol' I think you're taking to heart what total strangers opinions are. Don't do that. Videos should be fun and who cares what somebody you don't know thinks? Do they pay your bills? Are they at your cabin or house at Christmas? Those people are the only opinions that matter. Next, I wish I could have recommended this before you stained over your daughters names and your dogs' paw print.....you could have taken up the boards, especially since the boards were put down with screws. You could have cut them into squares and mounted them inside or outside somewhere. Next, You can flip the boards on your deck over, stain that side and you get more life out of the same boards. It's work but so is replacing more and expensive boards. When I first saw your videos I thought you were hot. You are well educated it sounds like and everybody is different. You know no one pleases everybody so stop taking in other peoples criticisms, forget about it, relax 🙂
