Valpara ( Tamil : वालपारा ) is a taluk and hill station in Coimbatore district in the state of Tamil Nadu . [1] The hill station is located in the Annamalai Hills of the Western Ghats at an altitude of about 3,500 feet (1,100 m) above sea level , about 100 kilometers (62 mi) from Coimbatore and 65 kilometers (40 mi) from Pollachi . Due to that, this area is rich in various plant, animal and bird species. Most of the areas here are plantations of private individuals. Visitors are not allowed in the forest. The road from Azhiyar to Valpara has 40 hair pin bends. Large tracts of forest continue beyond the borders of the Tottam region. [2] The Tamil Nadu government is helping to develop tourism here by building resorts etc. [3]
