About Amabile
Amabile is a mixed-voice ensemble of 65-70 singers drawn from Bainbridge Island and the Kitsap Peninsula in Washington State. Our name is taken from the Italian for "sweet" or "lovely." In music, amabile instructs the performer to play or sing the music in a "gracious or amiable" manner, or lovingly. The choir brings a loving approach to its music, to each other, and to its audiences. The individuals in Amabile are committed to the harmony that is the collaborative pursuit of choral singers everywhere.
2024 marks Amabile’s 11-year anniversary. Founded by Anne Pell in 2013 and under her directorship until 2017, Amabile continues to grow under the guidance of Sylvia Cauter. Both longtime and newer member singers delight in the music and community that Amabile has created. Help us continue to share our music with Bainbridge Island and Kitsap County: audition, attend a
concert, share us with a friend, or donate!
