Is the gel medium what lets it resist? That’s the only thing that makes sense here otherwise I have no idea how it works.

The tile I’m using for the video is a low fire tile, but the technique should work at cone 5 if your tile is rated for that.

Is it safe to fire gel medium? What about fumes?

I tried to see if I could smell anything when firing and I didn't. If your concerned about it you may want to substitute wax as a resist. Hope that helps!

Only one coat of underglaze?

One coat will show some streaks but 2 or 3 it looks solid.

The the tile I did in the video is low fire cone 05 but you could also do the process at a higher temperature.
