Amal Carb Part 2 - issue with the Idling Circuit

Part 2 of my Amal Concentric Mk1 carb rebuild - this is where I sort out my float level and find the root cause of my idling problem (when I talk about the blockage in my idling circuit, contrary to what I say in the video, it is not due to a blocked needle valve but a blocked orifice.
I'm pleased to report that after reassembly, I’m happy to report that the bike now idles perfectly at 1000 RPM and the rideability of the bike at low speed has been transformed

To probe the pilot jet, I use a few inches of an old throttle cable, with a single strand sticking out for the last half inch or so. It's easier to handle than a single strand.

That pesky idle circuit. I hoped on my 64 TR6 yesterday and it started ok but didn't want to idle unless I held the throttle open or turned the idle screw way in. Without taking the carb off the bike, I drained it and ran some guitar string through the idle jet, along with some carb cleaner and compressed air. Now she's idling great again. It's always nice when it's an easy fix. The bike had been sitting more than usual because I'd been traveling. If the quick fix didn't work, I would have taken the carb off the bike, disassembled it and done a more thorough cleaning (including a dip in the ultrasonic.)

Ran like a bag of tits, superb engineering term. Had a 750 combat commando in a wideline featherbed, solidly mounted, ran like a goat shitting a soup tin. After a lot of work to correct the bodges and cleaning the carbs it ran well. Did find compressed air didn’t shift any muck out of the idle circuit, flow just too low used a wire and after a lot of fiddling bingo. Did think of opening out the passage and tapping and screw-in in a jet but tried a old scrap body and it wasn’t going to work. Latterly ran the bike on two Mikunis, much crisper.

Hmmm...I was told to never put any sort of wire or foreign object through the idle circuit as you run the risk of gouging or distorting the channels. Obviously there is a different school of thought on this. Perhaps if I don't go at it hammer and tongs...

great reference matter ,i`m having the idle circuit blues so will give it a go with a wire broddle ! just a tiny bit of constructive critique i would offer is the bits of component being discribed being out of view, or out of focus as they`re held too close is a shame ! otherwise 👍ok
