The quiz book seems to primarily use words of French origin (i.e. introduced to the English language through the Norman invasion of England in 1066) as the euphemism (also a French-based word) examples in the questions (e.g. ‘au naturel’, ‘comfort station’, ‘sanitation engineer, ‘unmentionables’ etc.), with the answers mainly comprising of words of much older origin in English (e.g. ‘naked’, ‘bathroom’, ‘janitor), ‘underwear’ etc.) It’s this richness of multiple synonyms for the majority of words in English that ultimately makes it a much harder language for non-native speakers to pass as native ones when talking at a more advanced level, although it’s relatively easy to speak at a lower level. Languages where there was no such sudden and mass usurping of the original meanings that occurred, and therefore far fewer possible synonyms for words, such as German, tend to be harder to begin with, but easier to come off as a native speaker at the higher levels. ‘Raw-dogged’ is of older, non-French origin, with ‘raw’ being from the Old German ‘hrau’ and ‘dogged’ being from the Old English ‘docga’ 😂 Love this content, Amal ❤☺️

One of my favorite words ever is "cacophemism." It's the opposite of a euphemism. Using a worse term in place of a normal one. Like "car hole" rather than "garage." Or, you know, "raw dogged" rather than, well, nearly anything.

I would've given full credit for the au naturel answer because a face can be naked of makeup, hence bare-faced. Same with comfort station (which I never heard of either) because you can find bathrooms among other facilities at a rest stop and same with the white lie/economical with the truth because a lie is a lie, no matter how big or small because it's still lying at the end of the day. Everything else I agree with in terms of grading.
