Amana Action Air 10,700 BTU A/C from 1979

In this video we take a look at a recent find. This is an Amana Action Air air conditioner from 1979. It blows ice cold and has a huge discharge (unlike any modern unit ever)!

My parents bought an Amana central air unit 51 years ago and it still works great, the only thing they've ever done to it was they did have to have freon added one time.

Our central air went out an we're currently using one of those. Was my grandmother's and hasn't ran in over 20 years. Plugged it in and it runs ice cold. Was searching online for a users manual and came across your video.

Don't ever throw it away. The Amana air conditioners are great units.

How do you add Freon to it? Mine will blow cool air for about 1 minute and then automatically turns to what feels like a Fan blowing instead of cool air. How do I work this 1979 Amanda Action Air.

@@Kybobo that does not sound like an issue with refrigerant. If the compressor is still running and does not shut off. You likely have a plugged condenser coil or something.

@@JoshuasRecordings hey. Do you by any chance know why mine might’ve been blowing cool air for 1 minute and turns to fan the next. It’ll repeat the same thing, cool air then fan cool air then fan.

Had 2 of these installed for 35 years and were absolute beasts. In the Bahamas. One siezed up last year and the other leaked all its refrigerant. They don't make them like they used to. Their replacements take ages longer to.cool the room. wish I could buy a new Amanas.

Man that's a sweet unit!! Definitely gets colder (and colder much quicker) than my 12,200 BTU Amana I got last year which I think is a late 80's/early 90's model (no date on the name plate), plus yours has a power saver feature too which mine doesn't have. Nice!!

You can’t beat these old units even though that was over 10,000 BTUs compared to the units they make today It could cool twice the amount I’m sure. Just plain stronger and better built.

Suggestions for you to bro: 1. Change your intro music because its way louder than all of your videos. 2. Slowdown when you talk & Speak more clearly. It's your local accent that makes it hard to understand you. I thought English was your second language for the first few videos I watched. 3. Keep the microphone close to your mouth because your audio goes in and out in many of your videos. 4. If you're not willing to do any of that, then at least give us subtitles because you are hard to understand dude. 5. Don't resist good advice, try the suggestions. You might get more subscribers!
