I'm so glad you're staying strong all these years and have been able to turn your traumatic experience for good to send this message to all the children and parents out there, Amanda. I can only imagine how difficult it must be to stay strong in that situation, but you're doing it and it is so inspirational. Thank you for your testimony. And every PoS that would do something like this to an innocent child deserves to be locked up with the key thrown away. There's absolutely not an ounce of humanity in them.

This sort of happened to me. This guy kept talking to me and starting asking creepy questions like where do you live and what's your full name and what's your password! Of course I didn't answer I was too scared. I showed my mum and she called the police. The police tracked him down and I never got a message from him ever again.

In the early days of the internet when my daughter was still a child, about 1998, I allowed her access to my computer, a PC with windows 98. From the very beginning I educated her about the dangers involved and online predictors and told my daughter if anyone contacts her I want to know about it. I also kept my eye on everything she done on there and every night checked her history. Many parents don`t bother to watch their kids online activities because while they are online they are keeping themselves occupied and the parents have no need to interact with them, in other words lazy parents. It is the parents responsibility to ensure their children`s online safety and that`s not difficult to do, as I have explained.

she has never agreed to meet anyone, he subtly found out enough information about her (which isn't very hard) from a few conversations and stalked her. Not all people online are predators, but the point is you never know who is a predator until it's too late.

I suppose that I'm just a terrible person, but why was she giving this suspicious stranger in an open chat room her location? He had no proof that he was associated to her school at all OR that he was 14.
@silentshadow29576 жыл бұрын
She didn't give out her address. They told that story about the school colors, and he probably drove around until he figured it out on his own. If you know a person's town, state, and the colors their school uses, it isn't impossible to find them. Then he had to lock down the target, follow her around a bit to learn her address and routine, and all of that stuff. She did not give him her address. He found it.
@billypersistent61276 жыл бұрын
Silent Shadow, I didn't say address, I said location. In my opinion, talking to someone in a public chatroom with the name of your school in it about your schedule is pretty unwise.
@silentshadow29576 жыл бұрын
Billy, other people were saying address. Including the guy right below your first comment. It blended together at the time of me saying all that. I get it, it's probably not smart to reveal information like that, but she was young and people learn through experience or exposure. How was she to know that he wasn't really who he said he was and that he was going to stalk/kidnap her? It's because of stories like this that we've learned to not be so trusting with the details of our lives. We aren't born with the knowledge of, "This person may harm me," or "I shouldn't tell him this, because then he'll do this." We learn by watching videos like this, hearing about it, or experiencing it ourselves. She set the example for others; nobody was there to teach her any of it. It isn't her fault for not knowing. That's mainly a response to all of the harsh, inconsiderate folks below...
@pikachu86266 жыл бұрын
She was young, and probably didn’t think anything about it. That’s what they make you do, try and gain your trust so they can get you to answer their questions with thinking about the consequences.

Kids are naive, I think it's usually the parents' fault for not being cautious and protective of their kids as they're supposed to be. The parents should know the dangers and keep some sort of tabs on their kids' online activity (for example I'd never let my 10-year-old kid on social media because it's dangerous and why the hell would a 10-year-old even need social media in the first place?)

Internet Safety should be classified by a company besides Microsoft. It should be regulated by Muslims and Christians.
@bendoverman51596 жыл бұрын
Victor Tay ah yes Muslims who marry underage girls. The only way to be safe on the internet is for you to take measures to stay safe, if one company made an anti-virus software and it was the only anti-virus software available, then virus makers would find a way to hide the virus from that software. Just like predators would find away around one companies systems that are put in place to protect people from them.
