I was married for 30 years and divorcing devastated me! Unfortunately it took 8 years for me to find Bob's videos, but once I did, there was no going back! I am a part time vanlifer and couldn't be happier! Kudos to you, Amanda, for all that you've shared and overcome! xoxoxoxo

New sub here. I found your channel through Matty Van Halen. First, thank you for wanting to serve our country. It speaks to your character. Second, I spent my life as a consultant to commercial banks. It was a very rewarding business for me, but frankly, banking can be very boring and tedious work. Lastly, I lived through a divorce also. Very painful, under the best of circumstances. It's hard to overcome that without some level of PTSD. I'm glad you have found your passion. And a better way of life. You are a very well-spoken young lady. I wish you well in your travels and look forward to watching more of you content. Take care.

Your life story is incredible. So young to experience so much. Its a shame we push everyone to college and careers when kids have no clue what they want out of life etc. Teen age years are sooo tough. What a tough month for you!!. Glad to see you're finding your way!!

Thanks to your brother for his service. And yes, divorce can be difficult. I went through a divorce when I deployed to Afghanistan and it took me a long time to go through that period of self discovery. In a way I think I'm still going through it over 12 years later.

That took guts!!! Proud of you. I presently coexist with the person I divorced. (Who tried to kill me twice) YES - HE WENT TO JAIL!!!! BECAUSE of kids, & financial obligations & COVID restrictions...We were forced to stay in my apt. I’m making my way out - come august I should have my wings. I can’t wait!!! I’ll be traveling with my dogs in my suv home.... The two BIGGEST factors of my EXODUS - Getting AWAY from my abuser & ALL that baggage & bullshit, and I won’t be paying for someone else’s mortgage. I CAN START TO DREAM AGAIN.....

Wow, I relate on so many points. I never wanted to go to college despite doing quite well in grade/high school for the same reason: I didn't want what they were offering. However, I didn't know what else to do. In retrospect the answer was "pursue a career in music," but I had no idea how at the time. In my story, I went through the motions numbly doing "the right thing" until succombing to depression and in my case, I became alcoholic. My illness destroyed all the relationships and the life I had built up until that point. Now in recovery, I'm facing myself and watching your channel because I saw you on Bob's while I was fantasizing about traveling, because why am I working just to sit in this apartment? I'm not living so much as existing. Thank you for sharing. I don't know how you feel about putting yourself out there like that, but I think it's a very brave thing to do. As you say, not all feedback is positive or wanted. I appreciate you, and maybe our paths will cross at some point?

I'm 23 years older than you are and someday I hope to meet you. I bought a van after watching you and My Basic Journey. I've lived for everyone else my entire life and always kept to myself because I figured no one liked me. I was in my 40's about to finish up RN school and had a stroke. It was devastating to go through that and the day I came home from the hospital I called one of the two friends I had and asked her if her parents still raised Yorkies. She said yes! By that evening I had a tiny 7oz Yorkie that I named Chloe. She helped me through all the grief of the stroke, losing my career, and feeling like my life was gone. She was so pretty and so smart. Then one day she started acting like she didn't want to be held and then her head was tilted one night so I immediately took her to the vet. The dog that gave me everything had to have exploratory surgery because they had no idea what was going on. I waited in the waiting room after they closed the office and the vet came out and I could tell it was going to be bad. She had stomach cancer and it had progressed to her liver. She would never survive it. I had to decide at that moment to either take her home or put her to sleep. Of course, I had to pick putting her to sleep. I went to the OR where she was still under anesthesia and petted her and told her how much Mommy loved her and thanked her for getting me through those hard years after my stroke. She was 6 years old. I still cry today for her. I never thought anyone could love and animal-like I did Chloe. This year May 24 I lost my Dad and I feel like I'm back in that rut of Depression, anxiety, sleeping too much, and eating too much. We were very close. He taught me to fish and hunt. After I bought my van he would say "I'll be glad when you go on your trip so I don't have to listen to you about your van." I'd say "Dad I'm never going to stop talking about my van." he would laugh. Oh, how I miss him. Life goes on and now I'm the next generation. I Love your videos, keep them coming!! ~Elaine

I don't know how I am just seeing this, but it is one of your best videos that I have watched to date! Thank you for sharing so much of your heart, history, and what brought you into your vanlife journey. I have four furry littles that come along with me in my van, so this very much touched my heart to hear about your struggles in early 2020 with so much life trauma and how important Wynston is to you, as being able to travel with mine is the reason I created my minivan in the first place. It has been lovely to see your growth and confidence on the channel.

When I lost my apartment in 2019, people asked if I was going to do van life. I wasn't in good mental or physical shape for that...but ended up in a dumpy monthly motel with mold poisoning. I've got a decent apartment now...but I'm getting my skills / van ready for fun (and unforeseen circumstances). I did a trip to Sedona to get my Reiki Master training and it was one of the most beautiful experiences of my life. Gotta keep rolling like a rolling stone. Thank you for sharing...your story and all your hard earned knowledge. Happiness & blessings to you, Amanda.

Amanda, divorce or any break up is hard. I was divorced after 40 years of marriage. Yes! It was very difficult but now almost 6 years later I'm doing great. I've settled into a home I bought 1 1/2 years ago, after moving 5 times and to a different state included. Actually, I'm better friends now with my ex than when we were married. Enjoy each day to its fullest. Merry Christmas to you and your family. Happy travels and adventures!!🎄🎅🤶👍

Hi Amanda. Thanks for sharing your personal story. I can relate. My husband passed June 16, 2020 9 days after our 40th anniversary. That’s when I got my little Rosie who is been my constant companion and really saved my life. I am hoping to put my van together to try a little traveling . at 76 it’s a little intimidating but I really want to give it a try. I’ve been gathering the necessities and hope to take my first trip next month. You really are informative and fun to watch. I look forward to your videos

Amanda, thank you so much for sharing your story. I have been married to an alcoholic for almost 30 years. :( I am so glad you got out of that marriage. Alcoholism is a very difficult thing to live with. I was in tears when you were speaking about Wynston. My pugs are my life. They are my reason for living. My husband never wants to go anywhere so I bought myself a van and me and the pugs will be going out camping next summer. I love your van set up and I likely will be modeling my van after yours. Looking forward to watching a lot more of your videos. Give Wynston a pug hug from us here in Ontario, Canada.

Hi Denise. I didn't think I could go on if Wynston would have died on the sidewalk in front of me that day. I thank God we are both still here. I am sorry that you have a personal relationship with alcoholism. My heart aches for you. But I am SO happy you have a van to go out on your own! Yay! That's amazing. Keep looking up, my friend. xoxo

@@AdventuringWithAmanda My worst nightmare is having one of my precious furkids attacked or stolen/lost. I don't know how I would carry on from that. I'm so glad that Wynston survived that attack. That little guy has been through a lot in his life. What a terrifying experience for both of you. My dogs are my life. I had 10 pugs at one time! Those were the greatest days. I use to show my pugs and had several Canadian Champions. My husband is very supportive of anything I want to do. He thinks it's great that I want to get out and go camping with my van. He may even join us on a weekend or two. His alcoholism is a struggle for both of us. He has never made a real effort to quit though which is sad and gets pretty frustrating for me.I am so looking forward to meeting up with other woman who solo camp. Late in the summer I bought a tent and me and one of my pugs went out with my little car. It was packed very tight. I met up with a lady from one of our Canadian FB solo camping pages and had one of the best weekends in a very long time. So much fun. We both agreed we will camp again together next summer! I am so looking forward to it. I know it's going to be difficult camping with three pugs (one is blind and deaf and 14 years old) but I want to give it a try. Thanks again for sharing your story. You truly are an inspiring young woman.

Thank you so much for sharing your heart and truly wonderful story about Gods miracle working power. But also the hard choices we all have to make to find the life that God has intended for us to live and that, my sister.. Is true freedom! I can't wait until the Lord gives me the go ahead to jump in to van life. I am so happy that you found true joy and peace. And that your fur baby is doing well. God bless you and I look forward to meeting you on the road some day soon.

Hi Amanda, this video was amazing. Very inspiring. Very brave of you to put all of this out there but good for,you for doing it! I’m super happy that all of the events in your life put you in a great place. I was so sad when you talked about Winston’s near death experience and I agree…sometimes God does step in and provides a miracle. I’m so happy that Winston survived and is there to help you. I love Winston. Thanks for sharing and be safe!❤️
