I think that a DRYNESS test would have been in order. For example, I've used that Sharpie pen, and have found that it runs out of ink and goes dry in just a matter of seconds of use.

AmandaRachLee was not surprised at all with the result of the Sakura as that's my favorite too but I was surprised that stabilo point 88 performed better than the staedtler triplus since I use both and I like the staedtler much better because the tip lasts way longer and the feel of the pen and deepness of the black is of better quality in my opinion. Would love to see your take on watercolor brushes like the Tombow dual brush pens, Akashiya, Sakura, Kuretake ones :) not sure if the pentel brush pen falls in the same category? Anyway love this new segment and definitely looking forward to more showdowns 😊

@valchester25716 жыл бұрын
I did a lot of bullet journaling with the stabile 88 pens, and while they might seem like a great value at the beginning, after a few weeks (latest) of using them the tip really quickly becomes much thicker as it bends and you cannot write as small letters as you might want to and the colour also becomes much more grey tinted with that, so for a lasting writing experience with stabilos really I've had to replace them every month or so. just thought I'd let you know!
@e.w.46772 жыл бұрын
I use a lot of stabilo 88 pens for the same purpose and I don't share your experiences. I haven't had the problem with the tip getting bigger at all. Maybe it depends on the writing style and how much pressure you apply to the pen tip. I also haven't observed that the colour becomes grey tinted after time. (However, the pens are definitively able to absorb other colours, used that with ink in high school, that might be the cause) Edit: Also I use them mostly for writing, not drawing.

Dear Amanda, Thank you for the video! I thought I'd share my experience with one of them. I'm using staedler pigment liners and one thing I noticed is that they hold up extremely well against water xD. I had a sketchbook once that was completely soaked by the rain, and all the drawings I made with the staedler pigment were all preserved, while all the other drawings done by other fineliners became big blobs of blues and purples. I then had an idea for another stationary showdown. I would love to see tests on markers. I'm using promarkers myself, which are markers that try to recreate the effect of watercolor. But I know that they bleed through the page quite easily. However, they are excellent if you want to color an area without seeing the 'stripes' of the marker.
@rachelnan74255 жыл бұрын
Thank you!!! I love the Pigma microns, the only problem I noticed is that the 005 size which I really like- the point tends to break or fray or something. This has happened twice. I may bear down a little too hard, and I will say one time I was drawing along the edge of a really thin straight edge, which may have ruined it.

I use the Staedtler triplus (black and colors) and haven't really had problems. The showing through or "ghosting" as you put it doesn't bother me and I haven't had any actual bleeding. My biggest problem is the slight smudging from going to erase my pencil marks I put down before I use the pens, but again it doesn't bother me too much.

What about ink color / depth / pigmentation? Copic seems weak and grayish. The Staedler Triplus, Stabilo and Le Pen stand out as having a darker black color. In some cases (like le pen) maybe that’s just related to it laying down more ink. But still!

I don’t understand why Sakura micron works so great for everyone else lol. For me they smudge, the tips break, and they run out in a few weeks. I’m not doing anything particularly cruel to them so idk what I’m missing
@NickelEdge6 жыл бұрын
Testing for bleed through the paper and ghosting is a poor test, as that's more of a issue of the paper. Except when it falls out of the norm, like you noted with the Le Pen. But what about the consistency of the and bleeding? It look like the Staedtler Pigment fail horribly in this area. Where you wrote the 6 it looks like it had major bleeding making it look more like .7mm line. You showed smearing right after drawing lines. How long do the lines take to dry? How about a test of how many pages can be inked. If a pen is cheaper but inks a lot less pages, it loss a lot of its value as a buyer pen. it's It would also test how well the tips hold up over time. And final test how much pressure can the tip take before busting. You have a nicely presented and edited video, just lacking some important information.
@solarsynapse3 жыл бұрын
Would any of these work on plastic and have a more durable tip than a Sharpie marker? The Sharpie pen just wipes off and the LePen does not hold up as well as a Sharpie marker. Thanks!
