Hi Amanda! I don’t comment often on videos but I really wanted to thank you for all of your content. I’m 52 so I’ve been through a whole lot of makeup trends; from blue eyeshadow, blue eyeliner and blue mascara in the early 80s, unblended tri color looks with Uber shimmery brow bones and heavy black waterlines in the later 80s, the all matte, all the time 90s face, to the more recent trends in the 2000s. It’s hard, sometimes, for us as we get older to change with the times. It’s also hard to fit in with some of the trends when your skin is changing as it gets more mature. Your channel has given me so much inspiration in terms of doing looks that are just a bit more classic, elegant, and soft - yet still fresh and modern. The use of creams and lighter coverage keeps my skin looking more youthful and less crepey and cakey. I come back to your videos over and over and always find something new to add to my routine. Subtle techniques that make an enormous difference and product recommendations that just plain work! So… thank you! I am skin care obsessed so I have great skin for my age but you’ve really helped me to find a make up look that works WITH my skin, instead of smothering it. From base to eyes to cheeks, your tips and recommendations have me looking soft and elegant rather than harsh and overdone and I just sort of love you for that.

Thank you for this Amanda ! I have 54 year old eyes and I find detailed shadow looks aren't for me anymore, details get lost in folds, wrinkles & hoods. I love how you walked us through placement, I've been taking shadows right to the inner eye, eek! Even though I am much older, I still enjoy stopping in for tidbits I can implement or things I can adjust to suit my aging eyes.

I appreciate your using brushes and addressing the characteristics of brushes that work with cream shadows. I always make a mess when I use my fingers, but finding brushes that do a decent job of applying cream shadows is tricky. I absolutely love the eye looks you create!

LOVE this video! Would love to see more like this maybe with liquid shadows. I have somewhat hooded eyes, and love the CT oyster Pearl color, but cannot wear it as it creases & doesn’t last; even with a primer. Thinking liquid shadows may be better for me, and would love to see your favorites in action.

This might be a repetitive video idea that includes many of your already raved about favorites, but I'd still like to see you talk about your favorite multidimensional "one and done" eyeshadows. I'm too lazy to do elaborate eyeshadow looks anymore and love single shades that look like you applied two or three shadows. Like you said, the shades that work well tend to have some type of shimmery reflect and a slightly different base color that sheers out and goes more matte in the crease. I really liked the way you went into depth on what makes a wet look eyeshadow, so I'd love to hear you talk what makes a multidimensional eyeshadow.

Such a helpful video with such beautiful looks! I’ve been playing more with cream and liquid shadows (phytosurgence, lisa Eldridge, auric, etc.) and have found that tapping a powder/glitter topper (especially Natasha or Pat) over helps to set the cream or liquid on my more hooded eyes. Bonus: less fallout and even more sparkle ✨

I'd love to know how to use cream shadow - or any one and done eye shadow look for hooded, very hooded and deep set eyes with very little space between lid and brow.
@irishgirl127052 жыл бұрын
Amanda, how would we with naturally hooded lids and/or small eyes do this to make it visible but still soft looking? You have the perfect lids for this due to the shape and size, but think Taylor Swift for reference or Jennifer Lawrence etc. Thanks so much.
@AmandaZ2 жыл бұрын
While doing your eyeshadow, try periodically looking straight into the mirror- to see where you’re placing product and what’s showing- I think it might help give you a framework and is sometimes easier than keeping the lids closed!
@valeskam9792 жыл бұрын
Perhaps Amanda has some other, better tips, but I will tell you what I do. I have very hooded eyes, a la Taylor Swift, and mine are also slightly downturned on the outer corners. I've always struggled with doing a wing, so i typically just blend it out a little like Amanda did in the second tutorial, but a little more rounded and blown out than she did. First I always start with an eyeshadow primer, i find that if i use concealer if just creases on me. Then the most important thing I have learned is to look straight into the mirror front on, with your eyes open when you do you crease colour. This way it allows you to blend slightly about the crease (without it looking crazy). I also find that going in with with a subtle crease colour really helps define the eye contours without making it look like you're trying to blend a shadow too high. Think just a little deeper than your skin tone, like a bronzer type colour, I do sometimes use my bronzer for this. And then I go in with the shimmer, and I usually put it all over the lid, especially if i'm using a light coloured shimmer. The kind of nice thing with hooded eyes if that you can go a little dramatic with the glitter or whatever because most of the time your eyes are open, no one can see the whole look and then you get a "bam" of colour/glitter when you blink. My eyes are also kind of small and deep set, so i tend to avoid too much colour on the bottom lashline, kind of like what amazing said, just the outer portion. And then I go in with a lot of mascara on the upper lashes and just a touch on the bottom to keep that looking fresh and clean. I find it can quickly become too much with darker colours and mascara on the bottom lashline and then just look messy. Hope that was at least semi helpful!
