Amankwa is a diachronic product from " ɔman akoa", it shares the same etymological destiny with " ahenkwaa (court attendant) the suffix "kwaa" which produces homonym is a common bridge that create similarities in meaning between the two. Amankwa, according to traces of royal records earned the name through a special assignment given to him by the "Lord" of the traditional court . The duties of the Amankwa was to run a special errand for the occupant of the stool as well as closely associated elders of the palace. The bearer of the name was to act as intermediates between the chief and his subjects at special occasions. It is noteworthy that his special duties was not in anyway to be in conflict with any of the court attendant including the "okyeame" ie. the linguist, his duties later defined the name as a state servant which cannot in anyway be disputed in linguistic terms as being the true reflection of the name "Amankwa ".
