Every time I think I have seen Senri's best video, I find something like this to blow my mind all over again. Drummers (and I was once one) always like to argue about who is best... and I don't know if there is an answer to that question. But Senri is definitely on the short list and for me, the combination of power and musicality she displays is one of the most astonishing things I have ever seen. The guitar is impressive too. I would really like to see the sheet music for this and get some clue what time signature they are playing in.

A lot of folks first introduction to Senri is her Jazz/Rock Fusion stuff (most of Kiyo*Sen, her own project, is that). And I would hazzard a guess that most of her fans are mostly into that. But I have to say, I’ve always been super impressed by her versatility. Her stuff that is purer Jazz is also super super good... My favorite mix list with her wanders back and forth between both just because it’s fun to hear all the contrasts.
@teddys35584 жыл бұрын
Jay Carr Senri is most definitely a phenom and amazing at soloing but if I have a critique of her is that she’s too chopsy and has a very weak concept of pocket and groove. She doesn’t know how to play with space well. She is too in a hurry to throw in fills. Not impressed with her in this area. Here is the example of what I mean. I can’t see her grooving and playing with space like this...kzbin.info/www/bejne/hp7XenqDpcajhas /kzbin.info/www/bejne/e5SkkmR9nLCdm68 /kzbin.info/www/bejne/rZq4qJhnoJ57gtE These guys have all the chops you could possible think of but they can just sit in the pocket and groove.

SENRI - san , as usual perfect . It 's a pity that the video doesn't focus on the bassist instead of the guitarist in a master piece where the real challenge comes from those 2 . As a bassist I will never have enough of Senri's work .
@kaytamatsuno3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! The reason why the bassist isn't in the focus is that I (Kay-Ta Matsuno/guitar player) am playing Bass as well as keyboard and everything else except drums. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mn3PfpqDnMpohNU I have known Senri since her 2nd album which I wrote 2 songs for her.

I guessed so . Actually last year I was ready to hire Senri san for my last project in japan....when this bloody covid broke down all my plans ....whilst the percussionists in thailand (where my studio is) are quite good I can 't find a drummer like her . @@SmartrMelons No worries! Actually "See you ~" which is composed by George Nishigomi is 17/8. OK. So? 25/16? Can anyone give me a hint how 25/16 works? For example a 5/8 is often a (3+2)/8, i.e. a stronger beat at 1 and 4, making the groove. But 25/16, what is that?
