I truly admire your efforts. While it's obvious it's your first attempt, with no professional help/input, I think it's fantastic that you dive in and have at it. Nice background music, too. Good luck with your future construction endeavors. You'll be OK. P.S. I realize I'm late to the party, but don't cut off a tongue. Lay your T&G in a line, adding the next course of T&G plywood as you work your way to the opposing edge. Pressure treated tongue and groove, negates any need to paint the floor plywood. Do what you like, of course, and I dig the artsy mix of color on the floor. I'll be viewing the rest of your build. If, for no other reason, than watching someone who knows what they want and is willing to give it go, tiny mistakes and learning experiences, included. Also, smack those nails with intention, or get a pneumatic nail gun and compressor. The latter, will triple your production. Peace.
@OmegaOm6 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much FyouyaFnf. And thanks for the tips. It was a major learning experience. a nail gun would of been nice, but I did not have one. Hammering in the wall panels was really a pain, banging my finger a few times. I ended up pre-drilling holes before hammering when I got to the soffit, a little too late. Not painting the floor boards would of saved much time, I wasnt sure if it needed that extra protection. Glad you are enjoying the vids. Thanks :)

Another option when you have different colored paint is to mix all the paint in a large bucket. That way, you'll have just one color instead of many. The mixed color might be nice!

Thank you for the videos. Brother, how to anchor video pls?
@OmegaOm2 жыл бұрын
Thanks man. If you in really windy area maybe use stakes and straps to anchor foundation to ground before you put floor on. but should be ok without it, if you not in really extreme wind.

I think you said 3 pieces of 4x8 were what your plans called but you went 10x10 layout? I thought you said the plans were for 8x12 layout in which case the floor would have gone easier and 3 pieces of 4x8 would have fit exact. For the flooring to break on the joists you should have did your layout 16" on center, i would have framed the outside and joists on that layout and then move the inside blocks to meet the joist layout rather than laying out joists depending on to the block layout if that makes sense.. Anyways good job, I have never built one but I'm moving to an area where i may have some land to do so and I am trying to get ideas. Also in post covid lumber is super expensive so who knows.
@OmegaOm3 жыл бұрын
Ya I know. I had the idea of the floor but when I went to making the foundation I totally forgot about the floor boards. Thats when you have to improvise. I would of just put the blocks at the 2 foot mark.

hi sir. great video! are you from a cold area? i am from toronto where it could be -30C in winter. did you shed move around or still good? i am thinking if i need to dig below the frostline or not. maybe you can give me some of your experience since you built this shed? thanks greatly!
@OmegaOm4 жыл бұрын
Hi . TY. I live close to you. Check vid i put up called 3 years later. Its still straight abd hasnt moved. Dont have to worry about frost line if you build it on top of ground.

What do you mean? I think there are enough blocks on foundation
@UncleSarkis5 жыл бұрын
The shed doesn't get secured to the pier blocks right? Is that an issue?
@OmegaOm5 жыл бұрын
No still level after 2 winters. Only if tornado got under it. If you live in open terrain with very high winds you could always tie straps to the joists and spike them into the ground.

Hi. Would I be able to use the same math you used if I wanted build just a single slanted roof? And how much did all the supplies cost after you finished building the shed?
@OmegaOm4 жыл бұрын
A single sloped roof would work too, and you mean the math of the angles's /Slope, ya you can use the same slope, a 4/12, or you can make it steeper if you wish, but not less steep. The Shed in Canada at the time cost me about $2300 in materials. You can save lots of money, by using 2by3's instead of 2by4's and by using a cheaper alternative to the expensive panels I used.
@cougargold3 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't have glued those floors down. Yikes. Just screw them and go in case you ever have to get back in that floor for any reason.
@OmegaOm3 жыл бұрын
Good point. Makes sense. If you have to replace a board. I got that glue idea from somewhere else.
@101egals6 жыл бұрын
Just for FIY it would have been better to cut the bottom of the grove side off instead of the tongue. That way you would have a place to place glue the two together.

Instead of glueing and nailing the panels down just use screws.
@OmegaOm6 жыл бұрын
Maybe you could get away with that. I was just going by what I seen most guys too. The glue is cheap anyway, cant hurt.
@MuffinMan05216 жыл бұрын
I agree. To expand on this if you just use nails over time they can become loose making a floor squeak. Using just screws saves time by not dealing with glue AND nailing. I think you'll probably be safe with gluing and nailing.
@OmegaOm6 жыл бұрын
good idea just use screws. probably would have if I would of got those 1000 deck screws for $22 earlier. Either or good I assume for shed.
