Welcome to another aluminum boat build from #brigadeboats . In this video I will show from start to finish how we took a 14ft jon boat and turned it from bone stock to a one of a kind fishing machine!
This project is unique in a few ways... One, the boat was built and this video filmed, on site at #tbnationoutdoors with the help of my friend Nate. Two, this boat belonged to Tim Adkins which tragically died on the job. His good friend, Shawn, acquired Tim's boat and brought it to us to build in his honor. This boat build is dedicated to Tim!
In late February '22 I drove from Georgia to Illinois to build this boat. The boat came from Ohio. We built the boat from start to finish in just 8 days and estimate over 150 hrs labor on this project. Because of Nate's shops tools and equipment, we were able to custom fab a lot of cool parts for this 1436!
This video features footage of the full jon boat build from drop of in stock form, to a fully overhauled fishing machine. You'll find info on gutting benches and foam, how to sub floor, foam and aluminum work, welded in tube framing, custom cooler installation, custom storage box and dry hatch lid installs, jon boat wiring, led lighting, shallow water anchor, aluminum decking, hydro turf installation, locking latches, trolling motor trolling motor mount, custom bow plate, anchor mount, decal install, and much much more! Of course theres some tips and tricks along the way!
The video shows a majority of the work with voice overs explaining the process. I also show the tools and materials needed to make it happen. The final result is shown at the end of the video along with the customers reaction as we unveil the fresh rebuild to him.
This trip and project holds a special place in my heart. I hope the passion we put into this build in memory of Tim can be seen in video. I hope you enjoy the end result.

Having the flooring lines match up with great details is extremely important. Being an owner of a vessel with factory mat flooring that some panels or lines don't quite match up is a constant eye soar. I can tell you from experience that doing that level of install will be appreciated by the owner/user of this vessel.

For cutting out foam like you did with the original seats. You should make an adjustable hot wire for cutting foam. will save you a lot of time on future builds. food for thought

Where does the water go when it gets under the floor? Is there an issue with the the insulation holding water?

To the drain channels which direct it to back of boat. No, it is closed cell foam, doesn't absorb water. Also cut loose to ribs so water has room to go around.

No it definitely isn't. Some things in it can be replicated diy. Most don't have a welder in their garage, though. I started out building these out of wood decking and framing back in the day, a lot has changed, but my channel was built on diy content. Thanks for watching.
